With a difference. I have discovered that in my sister's attic is still my Raleigh Tuff Burner 2. So, my plan is to fully restore it, either to a new design using existing frame and wheels, or as it was originally. Have seen some of these restored Tuff Burners on Ebay going for about £500. I know the Skyway wheels will be sound, just not sure about the frame. Anyone here done this or similar ? She also said that my RS Cosworth Scalectrix is still up in her attic as well. Will have to see if that still works. Tuff Burner 2 original.

Iconic Bike! I so wanted one of those as a kid. I ended up with a cro-moly freestyle bike instead (think it was called a Rattlesnake) - which was awesome too You gotta restore it back to original - that would be a lot cooler than a new design imo.
Cheers guys. Will upload some progress pics as I go along. Used to absolutely love that bike. Went through two sets of handle bars though as the wee cross spar kept snapping due to the stunts and jumps I was doing. Think you are right Mac, back to the original. The pads should all still be ok as well. My dad had them repaired and strengthened along the stud clips as the studs had rusted and shred the leather. Really looking forward to getting my teeth into this.
Picking this up tonight, so will see what shape it is in. Pricing parts that I think I will need. Original blue dot handlebar grips are going for £75. Bugger that. Have bought some new Raleigh Burner grips, just not blue dot ones. New set of decals, and Raleigh badge. And also discovered an easy way to get rid of rust from chrome.
Superb !!!. I had the same bike too and loved it to bits. I remember my one had "stunt pegs" on the rear too ! Be cool to see it all finished up
I will keep posting some pics during progress mate. Have already bought a few bits and pieces for it. But will be stripping it down this weekend.
So far, everything stripped off and cleaned. Bars and forks powder coated, new seat, new brake levers (still to be fitted), new brake cables (still to be fitted), new stem, new grips (still to be fitted), new tyres and tubes. Not quite finished yet, but it won't be long.
Just need to find the V bars pad, and get the frame pad fixed. Other than that she is finished. Before
Cheers guys. Yeh am quite chuffed with it Madmac. There is a little rusted part on the frame, but it is covered by the end of the frame pad. However I have seen them going on Ebay for over £750, and that is with mostly NOS parts. Only NOS on this is the grips. Tyres are new, and had to get this style as you can't get the old snake belly profile in blue gumwalls. Everything else is original.
