My zorst( yoof speak), doesn`t mount where the std one does, i have a brkt bolted behind the original rearset, so hopefully this mite be easier, but knowing my luck it will be a pita( more yoof speak)
I thought I might buy a set of these rear sets at that price but after reading the comments I won't I will possibly buy Gilles again I know they are expensive but I have never had any problems with fitting and they look so good
At this stage I think their very good rearsets, even at the full price of £250. All the problems are easily fixed, the customer experience could be easily fixed with practically no cost to Diamond. The problem is La Prick who seems to not give a toss about his customers. Been out all day, done around 160 miles of twisties and love the riding position. Ok I admit that I'd struggle to do hours in a straight line with the way I've set them, but that's what the 929's for.
I think people mite have jumped on the bandwagon regards the minor niggles. For the money i don`t think you can go wrong, after all they are race rearsets. Its alright paying for fancy packaging & having a nice label, but , for £150 what more do you want.
Mate, I seriously hope your not discrediting my post regarding my experience? Whilst I totally agree they are great rearsets and fancy package means fcuk all, you can't fit a square peg in a round hole. I feel considering my experience I've given a real rounded view, I gave Diamond more than enough chance to sort it. It does bring a smile to my face by people referring to Gilles considering Al's failure, but wtf has them being race rearsets got to do with missing/ incorrect parts and being spoken like a Cnut got to do with anything?
has my suggestion of gb moto been ignored again, they are quality, built for racing, and now do the gear rod straight from the lever to the gear change shaft,so only one rod,and they are about 180 quid, and thats not on special offer.just trying to be helpful,oh and barry the boss will give you help and advice whenever you want it.
Dave V, I am not discrediting your post at all, merely pointing out that a lot of people have judged them on your one problem/problems. If 6 people had bought them & they all had the same sort of problem then i would agree that they were shite, but as alot have people have jumped on the `what a bunch of wankers Diamond are ` without having any experience of them. ( Legal disclaimer ; i dont work for Diamond, i am not related to any of them, & i wouldnt know what they looked like if i passed them in the street). I would be the first person to tell someone that i thought something was shite/crap/do not buy. P.S. on a lighter note,i didn`t get in my box of rearset bits a `square peg?`
With parts like Gilles, you are probably paying for a more fancy looking part that will spend twice as long in a cnc mill having fancy pockets milled out & fancy bits of Ballnose milling. My comment on them being `race` rearsets is that thay may not look as fancy as other makes, but they serve the purpose they were made for, hence why they aren`t as expensive as other brands. I`m sure that when people race each other on track they aren`t concentrating on what there opponents rearsets look like.
P.S. on a lighter note,i didn`t get in my box of rearset bits a `square peg?`[/QUOTE] You can't fit a peg using a bolt with a hex head that's not been sent but more importantly a split washer that's purpose is designed to stop the things your feet sit on falling off if they haven't been sent You can't fit a shift rod if the rod end hasn't been sent You can't fit an exhaust bracket with a 90 degree angle using flange head nuts if what you've been sent is an exhaust bracket with a 45 degree angle, no nuts that are in fact meant to be fitted using M6 bolts that haven't been sent. With the M6 bolts you can't fit a bracket that is designed to be spaced without the collars to space it. That aside, you can't deal with what is easily resolvable if the person your speaking to thinks your an idiot that's wasting he's time- rest assumed HRC would have not been able to fit these rearsets with what was sent. Therefore, you can't fit a square peg in a round hole. I don't care about the legalities of this as I'm stating facts that La Prick is a complete wanker.
I think Dave had been very fair considering his treatment by Diamond racing. Having bought rearsets with missing items from the kit calling up to deal with it and being abused like it's his fault. The owner of my Ducati dealer who has built bikes for years also got the same abuse when he rung up to discuss the rearsets.
Thanks Nav, having dealt with Diamond within a day of myself your reasonably placed to sanity check my experience. I've kept saying it, I think the rearsets are well worth the money. That's not my point, but I'm not going lie and then be mocked on a forum when others suffer a similar expeiance. Sinewave- promise, I'm being reserved.
I think because of La Prick Dimond will be loosing a few customers!!! Maybe he should stick to back of shop work!! Or make sure people put ALL the parts needed in the boxes
No mate, it's a good suggestion, but let's keep it our secret or they may increase the price if they start getting too popular P.S. I like their carbon stuff too.
