Thought this could be handy for the next week while folk visit. Best deals I found 3-4-2 On weekend MotoGP tickets from the Silverstone stand (near the Honda stand) - works out at £50 a ticket for a full weekend (OK no grandstand but still good value) For those going next Saturday, Skidmarx will go a group deal on track fairings for the Blade if 5 or more buy - Pipeworx will also try and do 'something' but did not have much room for movement on price so you may just get a free T-Shirt or similar! The Crank'd demo is very good to pass some time - the trials guys are incredible what they get over. If you visit the 'RealRider' stand to the right of the main stage say you read about a show discount in Motorcycle monthly, they have a limited number of show offer codes (which the allocate against your name) to give discounted service for the first year - looks a good app. for your smartphone Oh and the coffee and cupcakes on the Honda stand are priceless! Even Tom thinks its a good deal!
Excuse me ignorance but whose the dude between the Lowes Twins??? And did u notice wether ir not it was worth going down for sum decent kit or is it just discounted tat they cant sell in the shops??
How embarrassing for me as i went to speedway couple times this yr ( with a mate whose been going speedway all her life! ) just to see what its like. Went to watch it at Perry Barr ( Birmingham Brummies ) and Monmore green ( Wolverhampton Wolves? ) and i think he rode for 1 of these teams doh
There are def. some deals to be had at the show - I did not have a good look as didn't need anything this time. J&S and a few others have decent sized stalls and clearing old stock The other deal I saw was copies of R&G heated grips at £20 being sold near the 'bumpy' trials area past the Honda stand - It was very busy yesterday morning and I think we did 3 circuits of the place going back in the afternoon to have a proper look / chat with some of the more interesting stands. Lots of 'show offers' from the touring companies / Spanish trails operators too - but nothing stand out amazing (things like £50 off a £375 holiday) Queues for food were huge (but it WAS very busy opening day) - worth carrying some supplies / bottle of water etc. mate went to buy and came back saying 'feck that, I'm not paying £6.50 for a small box of noodles!' If you get a stamp to leave the hall there is better value food options in entrance area (Pasty hut place for example)
Cheers Al .I always used to take a backpack and flask ,I don't mind buying food ...but don't like being ripped off either .
I ain't going until the last day (next Sunday) but looking forward to getting eyes on the new metal and picking up a few bargains. Might try out the MT-09 in the test ride zone to see what all the fuss is about.
Helmet City have some great deals on Schuberth helmets - the SR1s are over £200 cheaper than RRP. £399 for the white/red/blue design.
I don't know if you'll find any bargains. A few mates of mine went yesterday, one of them wanted a pair of gloves and no one in the whole show had any in his size, same with boots, he was after alpinestars so a common make..........
I'm going tomorrow. Always go with the intention of treating myself but always come home empty handed apart from the free calendars etc. Tis my intention to get some kevlar jeans this time though for next years TT.
hi everyone - just back from show food and drink prices stupid so as mentioned earlier visit the honda or suzuki stand for a free tea or coffee and a bun at the honda stand. all they ask for is a donation for thier supported charity - not compulsary but lets not be greedy. heres a few deals i found pipewerx will knock off £20 as a show offer on all pipes raceways are doing rst leathers with some good savings - around 25% off alpha motorcycles are doing some decent deals on boots most of the helmet stalls have knocked around £100 pounds off an expensive arai/shoei and a bit more if you need a less popular size. new blade looks nice but £15k - bet theres a new model next year anyway dripping in electronics - not neccesarily a good thing but thats progress for you all in all worth a day out
So just got back from the NEC show ran out of time today as I went with Steve (Firebloke ) and he likes to talk . Both of us bought a few goodies can't say I saw any real bargains got measured up from ultimate ear protection for some ear plugs which was the main thing I wanted as normal ear plugs hurt my ears have heard good things about these . Looked at the new Blade and can't say I was that impressed at an extra £3k and only brembo caliper on the front not on the rear which I found odd and ohlins . You could do the upgrades yourself for that price ok you can't have the colour scheme but think Honda need to up there game a bit more to keep up with the competion . I really liked the Aprilla RSV4 and with ohlins and full Brembo a stunning looking bike but still happy with the Bmw S1000rr. Lots of half naked girls which Steve was very happy with and he even managed a full English breakfast which was defo not a fine dining experience . If you are hands on and use drill bits go and see the guy doing the demo with the cobart drill bits both me and Steve bought these £40 for a full set plus extras with a 10 year gurantee covering breaking or going blunt they are a fantastic drill bit and they drill through everything with ease and drill everything from wood to steel to stainless .
Yep, no real bargains as Jason says but then they face some stiff competition from the internet these days. Watched Jason get some gunge injected into his ears (could have done that for him myself, I'm a dab hand with a silicon gun! ) Bought myself the drill bits as Jason said, The guy was drilling through the head of a lump hammer, a brake disc and even a Yale padlock with ease! They really are an impressive bit of kit! Also bought myself a Drift Ghost bike cam so I can film my next crash at Oulton again. Looks great, can't wait to use it! And finally Jason insisted on taking me for a look at round the Harley stand in readiness for my retirement Really good day with eye candy of all categories
Yep we had a good day, shame the traffic there and back was shite. Purchased a biker tidy stand for all our kit, a subscription to super bike mag where we spent about 10 mins talking to the editor who kindly gave us a Rossi t shirt for our lad. We got loads and loads of freebies and after buying nick sanders book had a chat with him, also bumped into Charlie boorman and Karen had a ride on a scooter and learner bike at the Geton stand. Wish I'd taken my licence as I'd have liked to take out one of the bikes on the test ride stand. Tbh I didn't expect it to be so quiet compared to last years opening day so a midweek trip is in order next year, no kids either which was bliss!!
Oh I forgot, we went to the honda and suzuki stands for our free coffee and tea so no need to buy expensive drinks just a small donation to air ambulance.
Thanks for the tips guys, I'm off there with the family in the morning Looking forward to it as the last time I was there was 2009
Many thanks for the info all, just reading as I'm there tomorrow. Anyone want to meet up ? Amazed many are saying no deals or bargains. Never got a cheaper lid than at helmet city. All the local shops to me are always at the rrp. I want a pair of held gloves, Austin racing can, and be lid. Going to picks. Few bits up for myself if can give to the wife and kids for my xmas presses lol
