Just read about the scumbag who whilst banned from driving killed a motorcyclist. He then got his girlfriend to get in the drivers seat and claim she was driving! This went on for eight months until she decided to confess that he was actually driving! The end result is she gets 1 year for perverting the course of justice and he gets 4 years for a range of offences including causing death by dangerous driving, oh and he also got a 3 year ban. How on earth can this be right, there is something very wrong with our justice system that allows someone to kill and then to all intents and purposes gets away scot free. They should have thrown the key away.

It is pathetic and bloody annoying :(
Sad thing is you read about this stuff happening all the time :(
Seems to me that if you want to kill someone you hate, just kill them in a "so called" road traffic incident and you will get away with murder!

I thought they can give up to 10 years for this and surely the case highlighted in this thread deserved the full penalty of law?

    Absolutely disgusting

Should just lock them in a room with the grieving relatives and let them issue what punishment fits the crime

I will go out on my bike & go over the speed limit & get caught, & just to teach me a lesson they will lock me up for it (as in previous cases). Where oh where is the fucking logic in our criminal justice system, answer, their isnt any. End of rant.

This is the high price we pay for living in a 'civilised' society, common sense went out the window years ago, everyone is a victim, including disqualified drivers/drink drivers who kill and wreck not just one life but probably dozens, judges tend to be very intelligent people but are rarely touched by such awful circumstances, and seem to be out of touch with the victims or the UK public in general. In countries with less civil liberties this driver would have his nuts chopped off.

Your right, the price of a so called civilzed democracy is that no one is really '' punished '' anymore. He will serve about 24 months in one of HMP's finest, 3 decent meals a day, tv, radio, pool (ie snooker), and if good, games machines.... add into this the ability to study what ever subject he wishes and his ' punishment ' sounds very harsh.

Its a good job Hudson that you highlighted that they had snooker , for one moment , i thought that they mite have had a fuckin swimmin `pool` whilst being locked up! What would the world be coming too if they had one of them whilst being locked up, next you will be telling me that they are allowed to smoke in them prisons!

The country is a joke. There needs to be a set tariff that if you are found guilty of; eg. manslaughter no matter what the circumstance you get X amount of years. Murder you get X amount of years. None of this bullshit that lardy dah fuckwit judges give out. I've locked up many a burglar (as well as other naughty folk) and some get off with community service, some go to prison for a few months and some go to prison for a few years, in my eyes they should all be going to prison for the same amount of time that being the maximum term. The criminal of today is not frightened of prison in fact it gets to them being stuck in a police cell even more as there's nothing to do and no friends to talk to like in prison where they can watch tv, play games, smoke etc etc.

When I started we still had 2 halls that we're slopping out and no power in cells. While it wasn't the best conditions to work in it was the best conditions to keep criminals in,they weren't being treated better than most pensioners, unlike nowadays.

It's all boll*cks. Death is death, whether premeditated or accident. There are min sentences for both if not behind the wheel. Same should apply. Especially for this toe rag who tried to avoid the law while banned and then try and get someone else to take the blame

Feel really sad for the friends and family of the victim as they must be traumatised.
