My heart goes out to the families & friends of the bikers that have lost there lives!...

We could speculate over the causes of there accidents but the end results are all the same. Tragic loss
Bad drivers, bad riding or mechanical failure no matter what the cause! The owness is on us as riders of sometimes ridiculously powerful machines to ensure our own safety!

I don't mean for that to sound crass at all! I just think it's a bit of a wake up call for us all!

It's so easy to get caught up with our mates on a ride out we all have different riding experience, skills and most of all personalities!
A rider that is not that confident trying to keep up is just a likely to have an off as a very confident rider thinking he has something to prove!
I think we just have to be the best rider we can be, work on our weaknesses, take extra tuition and know your abilities and ride to them!
I ride all year round and take nothing for granted as my next outing could be my last outing but I'll do my best to make sure it isn't!

I'm very proud to be a Biker and take a lot of pride in my Blade and love a good blast like the next!
I guess it's just the nature of the beast we are extra vulnerable on the roads!
I do fit in the Old Goat class, 46yrs and passed my test 3yrs-5mths ago  Although I've been driving 28yrs with buses 20yrs so maybe my road craft & anticipation will see me ok ;)

The husband of an ex colleague of mine was killed in the accident in North Duffield last Thursday. He was an experienced biker. I don't know the details yet but I fear he was simply in the wrong place at the wrong time. He had treated himself to a new ZX10R only a couple of months ago. When I heard the awful news it made me feel sick. RIP Darrell :(

A guy last month died near Ripon after a deer of all things ran across the road..... As said wrong place wrong time, but ride to what you can see in front of you isn't a bad thing

Tyke, only just joined the group, but think you're right, I passed my test in May then got a "starship" in July, got knocked off in October, but it was totally the other drivers fault. Lucky I was only doing 15mph coming off a round about. But I went over Snake Pass the other week and I am looking at taking my bike there when i fix it. Anyone taken this road before?
