Though I 'protect' the wife from my 'maintenance costs' on the Blade, I don't mind one off costs too much it's the ongoing. As I said I currently use approx sets a year, thats £300 just on pads for the pleasure of owning something that with my skill will only have probably marginally better performance than what I already have. Depending on your experience of these on an ABS and whether cheaper (but not too less superior) EBCs can be used I could be swayed very easily!
I was wondering that, as like yourself, I have seen a photo of what I assume are M4's in black when looking through images in a google search.
Just read on an Italian retailers site that "Brembo recommends not to install this caliper if the motorcycle oem brake system is a ABS System (for example not reccomended on CBR 1000 RR without removing ABS Brake lines)." Doesn't say why... Also this "Please Note: CBR 1000 RR 04-05 stock disk is 310mm, CBR 600 RR stock disk is 310mm, CB 1000R stock disk is 310mm. To install these calipers on these bikes you need to install 320mm disks and adaptors pn 105998709. Or you Brembo CNC P4 30/34 calipers pn 220A01610 with adaptors pn 105998709." Link to the web site CarpiMoto - Brembo Set Monobloc M4 34 Radial Calipers 108mm mount
Are these M4's a definite upgrade from OEM set up when used with a Brembo MC? They are worth the money just for the bling factor alone. I have had my blade for nearly two months and not even ridden it yet due to weather so cant say whether the standard brakes are any good compared to the last two bike that came with Brembo's as standard. Very tempted I must say.
Mmmmm What a dilemma. If I buy these then I will have to buy the Brembo MC and I have just fitted a set of ASV that I got from the NEC. I should stop reading these threads lol
I had a 2010 HRC and now have the 2013, the brakes were improved by the 19 RCS master, brembo sintered pads and Hel lines I had on the 2010 and they were by no means bad at all ! However after that I had a ducati 1098S with Brembo M4 setup and the brakes were excellent in comparison.. also taking into account the bling factor I have a set of m4 callipers, 19 RCS M/C and Hel lines waiting to fit to my 3 month old blade, and I just fitted Evotech folding levers so guess I am not the best person to say NO ! dont do it lol However the killer is that I still want to keep the clutch lever and there is not much point selling the brake lever alone as most people want a set unless I sell them and buy the harris RCS clutch lever to match the 19 RCS Master ??
I take it there is no workaround for the mastercylinder/lever issue? My levers were a pressie from the misses just 2 months ago. Daren't change them straight away lol
My Blade is the later Aniversary model but my previous bike was an Aprilia V4r and before that an S1000rr. I also have a Accussato set up on my track bike. I will probably not take the blade on track but am worried I will not be happy with the standard set up on the new bike.
No Brembo lever is specific to the 19 RCS Master cylinder, obviously you can still use the clutch lever or replace std lever and sell the pair of nice levers.
Dont be they are very good I will (hopefully) track mine this year and do like my bling so I decided to treat myself, if I hadnt i wouldnt be upset
Blimey, Just a few minutes away. We'll have to sort something out when the weather gets a bit better. Just the other end of the bypass on the A50 myself
So I suppose the big question is, do the calipers alone give you an appreciable increase in breaking? Or would I be buying purely for the bling?
