Hi guys, I'm after a little advice! I've have my 2004 ZX10 written off as a Cat B... Now I know I can never use it on the road again, but for as long as I can remember, I've wanted to race. Just never had the spare cash for a race bike etc etc... Now I have a bike, Cat b one Will I be allowed to use it on track?
If you have the old V5 and/or the numbers aren't tampered with then I think you shouldn't have a problem using it, but I'm in belgium so what do I know ... We use cat B's all the time for racing here,as long as the numbers aren't tampered with we're fine to race on them
It's a wonder the insurance company allowed you to keep or buy back a cat b bike ? We have a salvage yard we do sell cat b bikes with a full receipt and we make sure the bike has been issued a certificate of destruction .even a fully road legal car/bike is accidentally given a COD dvla will not even entertain issuing a reg again for it we learn the hard way Use the bike but keep any letters etc that were recieved to say it was a cat b bike and also check it's free that it's definitely cat b https://www.gov.uk/vehicle-identity-check/overview
Depends when you say 'Race' if you mean Race in a Championship or just 'Racing' at Track Days. If the latter then you'll have no probs what so ever.
If all numbers are present I don't see the problem for racing in a championship, maybe an explanation Sinewave? or do the ring to check the status of the bike?
as long as it has all numbers prestent and in tact then it will be fine, but make sure you have all the proof/docs/info/previous reg docs with you as the police do check at racemeetings to find stolen bikes,if you have no proof the bikes yours it's gone until you can.
Nope, sorry boys, incorrect, when you fill your paperwork in for scrutineering you give your frame number. Under new ACU rules after every meeting those frame numbers go to a special department within the met to check for stolen or written off motorcycles, at which point the police knock on your door and ask why your in possession of a motorcycle that should be in bits. Not only that by said club won't let you race it again.
I know of 3 bikes racing TT cat b including a little zx6r 2013 we sold I know rulings are different but if it's not on register as stolen not recovered I can't see a problem . We sell many a cat b and have never had a problem . If this ruling by ACU is new though I don't know to this
