Just a quick post to see what you guys think. Do I keep my 07 cbr1000rr or do I trade it for a 09 model year.
I'd say get a test ride and see which you prefer, sometimes the grass isn't greener etc etc. Also which one floats your boat looks wise?
Hard to say I love the 07 but if you fancy a change the 09 is a great bike ! Either way your not going to lose out on fun
i was curious about the 2007 model so i compared the specs with the 2008 model, the 2007 model is lighter?? better mpg? 1 liter extra in the tank, what the?
And I believe the panels are stronger on the 7 and def easier to take apart, I have heard handling is better on the 08+ but not ridden one, sat on one but I find them too small for me
Defiantly go for a test ride first, you will probably find it feels very similar but just looks different
I think your mistaken about the weight! The 2008 is quoted wet weight of 200kg take away the wet weight and it's about 172kg dry the 07 bike is 176kg dry weight, the tank size is 0.3L bigger on the 07 not 1L
All I can add is that after covering 40K+ on an RR6, and now 20+ on a RRA, and I live on these bikes 5 to 6 days a week, 12 months a year, these are my thoughts. 06-07. Easier to work on, panels come apart easy etc etc. All the power you will probably need unless you are racing. Easy to ride Good looker 08-on B*astard to work on, panels are a jigsaw All the power you will need unless you are racing (simple theme, you never have enough power for racing) Out of the crate, runs rings around a 06-07 in the handling stakes, lower CoG really shows itself, its feels smaller by about 30%, this is the pussy in disguise of litre bikes, you can do anything on it and it comes back for more. Out of the crate, you can ride it faster, easier and longer than a 06-07, the torque is fat and just where you want it, top end power is much more accessible. Brakes, not much to mention between them. (I am not even going to start the ABS debate again). Fuel consumption much the same around 45-50 in everyday real world riding as opposed to track or just a*seing around. Looks, that's subjective, I always like the underseat system on the RR6, and some of the water I have waded through in the last month, would have caused me less worry. The 08 on just needs the right colours IMO to soften the looks, but lets be honest the 08-11 is always like the end of the night in the club, you wanna a shag and she's the only one left, so you go with it, it's not bad, but the best ones went halfway through the evening.. For me its evolution, loved the RR6 until some scummy Eastern nicked it ( won't even start the immigration debate on here either), but tbh the 08 on is a better bike to ride, you can make these things dance and you can place them just about anywhere on the road you want it to go, in any condition. Of all the superbikes I have owned and ridden, as a complete package nothing can better it, sure some handle better, go faster, brake better, look better, but as a riding package IMO this is the best package made available yet, especially if you factor in how cheap second hand ones are.
