If u want one for looks and specialness if that's a word. It's the sp. if u want to make a race bike buy second hand and add what u want. It does get expensive lol.
I think as you are already buying a cheap 2nd hand bike it has already lost its value and so will not depreciate any quicker than the sp and to be honest probably slower as its half the price, and as you say the bling does always sell and hold its value really well and would much rather spending the winter creating my own spec blade than going into a dealership and shaking somebodys hand but I am aware that 99% of my thoughts are not rational at all
I am already in the process of starting to save up for the next bike. Fingers crossed I can have enought money saved by the end of this year to start the project.
Interesting reading... I wasn't really thinking of turning my bike into an SP but just cherry picking the best bits. My bike is a keeper so I'm not worried about the depreciation side of things. I guess the head angle will make the bike a bit more unstable in a straight line but turn better? New yokes would sort this? My bike is a bit to new to do the engine internals, but maybe in a few years, I have a PCV and full system fitted already so I guess that's a good start. Would I notice a lighter set of wheels or are thy just some bling? I get the feeling that the SP spec is a list of mods we'd all like to do if we had the money & time in one very tidy package.. Ozz
Are we thinking it won't loose value because limited to 170? I think that they will do another ltd just in another colour as been so popular
I hope they dont and keep it special, but I have a feeling they might Martin ! which will effect prices
I think the SP is a great looking bike and I think it will be amazing to ride. I have loved modding my RR6. The main area where it falls behind the SP is the engine. There again I have some bits the SP doesn't like a full titanium exhaust system and Marchessini wheels etc. Modding can be very expensive but I love customising my bike. Not really worried about the resale value, not because I can afford it but because it is much fun to ride. I have spent more on my bike than a new Panigale, sounds stupid,is stupid in many ways but I have no regrets, other than I might have made some slightly different decisions on a couple of parts. I would have an SP tomorrow, but still keep my RR6 if I could afford it. I trust Honda, they know what they are doing IMO. The SP will be iconic.
you think tho, if i was to trade my blade in to get an SP i would get 5k for mine, so i will need to spend 10k to get the SP version. I could spend less than 10k putting Ohlinions on it, brembos etc etc, even a nice paint job and you could be cheeky and even get a quickshifter and still have change in your pocket. I know you cant match the engine, or the lightweight subframe, different ridding position etc etc. But are those minor details really important? Fair enough if you wana be bad ass and own an SP and you have the cash why not!? But for a current blade owner to trade theirs in for one, when the current blade has 20 years of development, can they get that much better? i just wouldn't bother. p.s. im only saying this because im jealous of all the people on here that have ordered one and I cant afford one
so all bikes have to have ABS now in germany??, that sucks seeing that the ABS have a few problems on the honda
To be honest I wouldn't trade a 08+ blade in for the SP unless I was in the hunt for a new bike, otherwise I would hold out until 2015 and either go for the new blade ( if they bring one out) or go for the new yamaha R1(also if they bring a new one out). You can get the engine blueprinted and tuned for a couple of grand, then the ohlins TTX +/-1000£, top fork upgrade for 1300£ and then some brembo HPK ( better than the M4 ) for 1000£, HM GP QS and still have about 4K in your pocket..... SP isn't worth the money imo unless you are a collector as with 0 miles on it in about 40 years it'll be worth something more than now
yes but from 2016 -2017 is for all europe , all bikes Smaller bikes from 50cc need either an ABS or a so-called combined braking system forgot sad smiley..........
of course you can match the engine, surpass it even, cost you about 1-1.5k if you take it out yourself. i've had close to 195 out of a rr4-7 and around 182 from my 09.
thank god I'll be living back in australia by then Although that won't take long to kick in there either.... Can you change it and remove the ABD or would that become illegal?
