Tonight we have decided to go to the IOMTT to support a local rider that will have his first TT this year in 2015.

I know you have to book the ferry asap, when the TT finishes this year

who do we book with, and where would it be best to depart from? liverpool or heysham?
we would all be riding over on bikes.
were would we be able to sleep with about 10 of us?

    All info would be great.

    cheers

I've always used directferries.co.uk in the past, don't know if there's any great saving on booking with steam packet themselves, but if often leads to discounts for ferries to Europe that I use later in the year.

While ever the monopoly of the steam packet company exists you're never gonna get a cheap tt time crossing, and the Manx government appear to be delaying giving approval to the company trying to set up an alternative ferry.

    10 people = 5 tents! :)

    Skippy79 ,

Ten people for b&b's might be a bit hard to find ( if not booked early enough )

I'd recommend this , loads of locals leave the island during TT week ,
and rent out there houses , just an example ..........
    7 days = £1500 but between ten £150 each for a week ,

If you can't find anything I suggest you look here ,
Isle of Man TT forum , they have loads of hotels , b&b's ,
Home stay , campsites and houses to rent ,
    Before and during TT fortnight

Even if you look now and book it for 2015 , then its job done
and it's just your ferry crossing that needs booking .

Best to go to Liverpool. Just adds more time going Heysham when you just want to get over to the Isle of Man. I found it horrible riding out of Haysham. Might of been the fact we returned into rushhour traffic a little bit hungover, not good :D

Just talking about this last night. I came back into Heysham for the first time last year and what a sh*thole it is. It's like riding off the boat into an industrial estate (actually I think it's a power station) and trying to find a road out as quickly as possible.

Yep I agree with that too. Unfortunately I could only get a return sailing to Heysham this year so have to be thankful I guess.

Don't wait till TT finished this year you won't get
The crossing you want mate ,

Don't think you can book TT 2015 till late may ,

Race week is good but also a pain in the arse ,

Practice week so much better ,
Do what you want all day and 3 or 4hrs bikes every night ,

I booked steam packet at end of may last year and I think the crossings had been out a week or so. Best to email or telephone them and ask when the date of release will be.
You will love the whole thing, it makes the hairs on my neck stand up everytime I go, you'll never be as close to the action at any other meetings as when you're sat on a grass verge with bikes flying past at up to 200mph thinking "f@#$ I wish I had balls that big".

Id agree with the above, I much prefer practice week as race week gets stupid and you can't really enjoy the course plus everywhere is packed. At some stage make sure you go to the Sulby Glen pub on the Sulby straight, 200mph (fastest part of the course) about three feet away from you....awesome.

    For 10 people that's £350 each ,

You try and get a b&b or hotel for £350 for 14 days ,

It sounds a lot of money but between 10 it's not bad ,

There maybe cheaper , just keep looking on TT forum ,

Heysham is the main route, and may have the more reliable service, assuming the 'Ben' keeps going. The Manx is a great event, like the TT but without the crowds, mayhem, although it doesn't have all the off course events it is a great festival and you see a lot more Classic bikes there, less road rockets as it were.......

ok were only able to go 1 week, so the training week it will be I think as we want to have a ride around as well and I've gathered that the training is late arvo early evening? is this correct? the place I mailed that barney recommended is perfect if you want 2 weeks as it's very cheap, but unfortunately they only one it rent it for 2 weeks as they won't have anyone to do the change over... understandable!

I assume douglas is best, also for evening action ;)
Found a great little b&b a few streets back from the grandstand..

Can you blast around the course during the day and go and see some interesting things, or is the course only open certain times during the day(training week)

At £350 each even for the week I'd take that!!!!

Surely you can get some other mates to take the second week for you's and share the expense??
Erm maybe even post it up here, you know like ;) ;)

Skippy , I really think practice week is best , like I've said before
you can do and go has you please all day long ,
Roads close around 5 ish and the bikes are out at 6 give or take a few mins ,
Then you have 3 hrs watching them , roads reopen and away you go ,
You have that all week long , and see so much more ,

On another note , like Colin said put it on the forum get ten people
Book the house , you have your week , forum members have there's ,
£350 for a week , more I think about it more of a bargain it is ,
But then you have ferry crossing , food , beer so in total not far off 1k

Then your not far off a euro tour ;)
