hehehe... Don't get me wrong Jimbo, i actually felt quite sorry for the police during the riots and wished they had more power to deal with all the vermin on the streets. But that is what the police are supposed to do, they're supposed to serve and protect, not pull you over every other week to try and pin some old nonsense on you. It's beyond a joke now how police HAVE to give out a certain amount of tickets, and if they exceed a certain amount they get extra kudos!
Also someone mentioned about attitude...I have always been polite when i get stopped, in fact i don't think i've ever argued or raised my voice to a copper, i've probably even said 'thank you' when they've handed me a ticket in the past!

Thanks for the offer Jimbo but i think i'll give it a miss, too many bad memories ;)

That's a bloody shame. Not met a BIB who has not been helpful. As I said I. Often ride with off duty police and they no different than any other when on the bike or to chat to

I can see why people get pulled over though. I was on a driving lesson the other week, and my pupil pulled out of a blind junction that to be honest was hard enough, it was clear though. It was 30, the biker we almost hit was doing at least 50-60 and by some miracle stayed on, despite being scared by my car emerging and swerving.

Now... I've got a learner who is not so quick at braking, same as most. My view on a camber from the passenger seat is not the best, it would have totally been the bikers fault if we'd knocked him off. we emerged slowly enough, but he didn't see us, as he didn't have enough time to see all the hazards, nor did my learner have time to see him, as he came up very fast for the road.

my experience of the police, they tend to stick around in the (20,30,40,50 zones) and the limits have usually been set for good reason. Disagree if you will, but its selfish and dangerous to do that speed in a 30!

Wake up you lot its not about an individual but the entire system we have seen what investigatory reporting has revealed whether its the Police, MPs, Solicitors, Judicial ststem, News Media. Joe public has been ripped off for years and that will never change. Yes I'm a bitter bastard when I lost my house through fraud and deception yet the system did not protect me when the Solicitor told me I had a strong case and the Barrister told me I did'nt have a leg to stand on. All these tossers dipped my pockets for 32k.
That would'nt have happened in Afghanistan. lol

Guys as asked a few times, please be polite. Don't tar everyone with the same brush. please express your views but think off others. We have a few police on the forum and I think they can make the place a better forum for all as they can provide us with helpful information, and show everyone police are human.

Benn I hope you decide to come to future meets. Would be great to meet fellow bikers on here. No matter what they do. Same goes for all members on here

So Only warning please keep the forum civil and a enjoyable place for all to visit

This next paragraph is copy/pasted from a police officer...

We have quotas but we call them "contacts". You're required to make a certain amount of "contacts" per month. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-47442/Police-told-meet-quotas-motorist-fines.html

So Ben the pig, what was that about "trust this PIG your wrong"?

Guys I treat people as I find, if there nice to me I'm nice back but if there a cock then I'll give it right back, I'v had smart arse coppers be nasty when there was no need, and ive been let off for wheelying in front of one! So he was a sound copper in anyones book! Human beings are all different. I work with some right tw-ts a lad was finished on Friday for putting an extra 15 mins on his time sheet and was grassed up by a fellow worker who was sucking up to the boss! Unbelievable in my book, I'd never do that. Same with the police some nice some bad. Treat as you find. And if benn is a biker and a copper well he's a biker first and that's all that matters guys. He's one of us a biker! Simples.

Benn do the police still have to meet Government set targets (numbers) that were so often mentioned in the news, or have the government quietly dropped this unpopular ( with the police and public) practice.

You must be right then, I'm obviously clueless and completely wrong.

    I apologise.

    Take care all.

WB, further down in the article you will see this quote:

'Many officers are concerned about the quotas. Chief Inspector David Hockin, of Devon and Cornwall Police, said: 'Quotas can be counter-productive because they alienate the public. It's not an officer's job to achieve a certain number of ticks in boxes. Their job is to make the roads safer and reduce the number of road traffic casualties.'

So, why tar them all with the same brush? I think Masterblader has it right, it's not about individuals, it's more about the system.

If coppers choose to join the forum, they do so because they have a passion that we all share, why should they be subjected to the insults that are bouncing around on this thread? It boils my piss, particularly as they aren't able (because of their job) to respond in the manner they no doubt would like to, wonder how brave any of us would be saying some of the crap to Benn's face?

I have no particular allegiance to the Police, but I distance myself totally from the insults made by one or two people, and I have to say putting such a thread up was a mistake in the first place, but there again, hindsight is a wonderful thing.

Benn, if you're still around, I hope you'll realise that most of us don't share the anti-police views, and by leaving the site you're just letting the narrow-minded minority win.

All generalisations are untrue. Including this one. As the old joke goes.

And 'Tarring with the same Brush' is bigotry with the edges sanded down in order to explain it away.

I was guilty of it on this site when I 'joked' about BMW riders and JD, rightly, called me on it.

Givover was guilty of it when he 'joked' about the looters in the riots being black. And Bill, rightly, called him on that.

But they were jokes that crossed a line. What's beginning to happen on this thread is different.

This is getting personal now and I'm finding it unpleasant.

This thread was always going to end this way.
I think this is why it's best to keep your occupation (especially that occupation) secret, if you're ultimately just going to go off in a strop as a result of telling everyone what you do.

Not going anywhere just viewing from
A few rows further back, cheers for the more well thought about constructive comments, as said I have to keep my thoughts to myself because I have my "Job" not career to think about.

I hoped this would make people realise that it is I/us that take the risks by being on a forum being honest about what we do and trying to join in, not the other 99.9% of you that can say what you want to who you want.
99.8% of you seem to have a good grasp of this concept, shame about the others.

I come on here for help and advice and to try and give help and advice where I can all be it limited.

And also because I enjoy it and meeting like minded people, however you have to understand it's a difficult position to be in........

Maybe I'll go back to climbing pylons for a living.......

I wonder how for example a builder would feel about being, spat at, sworn at, judged and disliked by people just because once 15 years ago a previous builder built a mate of a mates extension to a poor quality.

Surely thats acceptable isn't it, yeah I thought as much!

A very fair and valid point kpone, i'm guilty of having blinkered vision because of how i've been treated in the past, realistically i should let it go now as it was a very long time ago.

I'm sorry if i have caused any offense :(

In 10 years I have never had to adhere to or known of anyone having to meet quotas!

That ultimately would detract away from discretion.

But the papers say we do so that must be a better reflection of the truth!
