It's not a holiday it's a tour!!! top top destinations there mate, done a few of them myself, can still see those exact set of corners on the B500 in my mind.... mega. if you've not done the ring before... be prepared to be sucked in.
I never do!! Although rolling off the ferry/tunnel home is always calling. But last year, Dave and I rolled of the tube and went for a "ride out" got home bout 3 hours later than planned. Sorry Hun, trains were delayed
I have to wait until July, but our route planner has just sent us this Hopefully we’ll kick off from Calais around 9ish and use motorways to Prum, Germany. Here we’ll have a late lunch before heading for Cochem, Germany on a nice run of twistys, we’ll stop in Cochem for a much deserved coffee before following the Mosel to Sangerheim Rachtig . Day 2: Sunday 6th July 2014 This is an interesting day, we leave the beautiful Mosel and head in the direction of the Black Forest, their is a 24 mile play on the autobahn for those that enjoy a quick blast before hitting the famous B500. then onto our overnight stop at Uhldingen-Muhlhofen “Lake Constance”. Day 3: Monday 7th July 2014 Now we head off to the beautiful and very scenic Tyrol & Vorarlberg, Austria. This route takes us through Hochtannberg pass, Fern pass and of course Gerlos pass. As we head for Landgasthof-Hotel Wasserfall, Fush an der Grossglocknerstrasse setting ourselves up nicely for day 4. Day 4: Tuesday 8th July 2014 The big one, yes we now have an exciting run over Grossglockner, this is a toll road costing around 25 euros so a nice dry day would be good. Then it’s Italy and the Dolomites as we head for our next pass, passo Giau, then passo Fedaia, passo Costalunga and passo Mendola before heading for our overnight stop at Via Per Marilleva. Day 5: Wednesday 9th July 2014 Now we start the day with passo Del Tonale before the heart stopping passo Di Gavia which sets us up nicely for Stelvio pass and it’s into Switzerland we go starting with Umbrail pass then Offen pass and Fluella pass before our overnight stop in Davos. Day 6: Thursday 10th July 2014 Today we do the swiss biking ring which is Julier pass, Albula pass, Oberal pass, Furka pass “my favourite”, Grimsel pass and Susten pass before heading off to lake Lucerne for our well deserved overnight stop. Day 7: Friday 11th July 2014 Now we start making our way back home, we head out of Switzerland directly onto the B500 for a great progressive bike ride back into the Black Forest, Germany. Day 8 Saturday 12th July 2014 Hmmm, we head for Trier, not quite decided the route yet.
You'll love Lucerne mate! If you can, try the St Gotthard pass, it's up the road and well worth doing.
