Jamie that looks the Dog's Mate Massive Respect.

As ever this as just generated a couple more questions.

What year is your bike? The TTX on the rear is it a R&T as the new one I'm looking at does not have the adjuster separate its mounted at the top of the shock.

Next I've been told the Mono Block Brembo's will not fit the Ohlins forks as they are and I quote from Brembo

'As for the CBR calipers on the SP, not yet, be careful with the forks if FGRT204 as the fork bottom has been machined to include the 5mm spacer fitted on the standard fork and Brembo GP4RX do not fit and the forks need 5mm machining off.'

They are developing a Mono Block from the CBR 2012/13 that will fit the Ohlins Forks.

So how have you got the Brembo's to fit?

Thanks in advance for any help, cheers Raymondo

Oh and what rearsets are they as I'm being told neither the TRW's, Gilles, or R&G will fit my Anniversary edition without filling out a piece of the reservoir bracket by my local Honda Dealer. It's doing my head in!

Might be worth having a chat with Demon tweeks I know they do Brembo Monobloc conversion kits now IIRC. They might be more in the know as to when this kit is coming...

My bike is a 2013 RR-D non ABS

Right the one your looking at for the rear is either a 0888 or 0931 which have the preload adjuste mounted normally on the rear peg bolt, mine is a 0788 which has the preload mounted on the shock... 0888 and 0931 will fit both ABS and Non ABS 0788 was made for non ABS

The FGRT 204 forks will not fit the monoblock brembos.. I sold mine to a forum member, as far as I know the HPK callipers will fit but £1200 if you can find them as the GP4 are a replacement... Beringer callipers will fit £900 a pair which might be my choice, although you can machine 5mm off the forks to allow fitting of Monoblock/GP4 callipers which is another option at about £150 ... The FGRT 813 forks will fit 12/13 bikes and brembo monoblock callipers but are no longer being made as far as I have been told and they are not NIX 30 like the FGRT 204.

I had the suspension set up at MH Racing and the bike is supurb to ride now, not to hard like some people say, a lot smoother if anything and im very impressed indeed.

I have Gilles VCR fitted and with the Akrapovic fitting kit Spacers supplied with exhaust behind the rearsets I have no issues with clearance, I have a std length Hel brake line and have had no issues with reservoir etc ... I had no issues with the 2010 either.

Unless you have ABS version they will fit, I cant comment on ABS setup.[IMG][IMG][IMG]

Pics may help with rearsets ?

Like the info Brembo are going to make some for FGRT 204 ! Any timescale ?

Brilliant info and pics Jamie thats really helpful & mine is the non ABS version so all good there too.

I got the info from Brembo through Nick at Kais who I always use. He will let me know as soo as the Brembo's are being made/supplied. Sorry no time scale but can keep you posted, soon as I know you'll know. The change I felt on the Super Tenere fitting the Ohlins was callosal, I could double my hours in the seat no problem. Even my wife and son both commented mow much more comfortable the bike was. I even kept the OEM seat for the 40,000 I did.

    Looked the dogs too!

Do you find the Tokico's work well with the forks? I just know mine being black will stand out a lot more on the Ohlins forks.

I'll have another word with Brian about the rear sets as its the one thing I really want to get sorted ASAP due to the miles I have coming up.

I have a Brembo 19 RCS master cylinder and HEL lines and that with the std callipers is an excellent setup for anyone, as has been said before the Std callipers are good, mine look ok in gold but as Jimbo pointed out its like 'wearing trainers with an Armani suit' doesn't look right so would like Brembo or Beringer to finish the look and obviously they are better, the monoblocks on std forks were amazing !

The VCRs will defo fit I promise :)

Also thanks for the offer to keep me informed I have no plans to change callipers soon, would like M4s on really so will wait to hear of any developments :)

Jamie, what benefits do you experience with this full Ohlins suspension? I see Pilot Roads on the bike, which leads me to conclude it's a tourer rather than a race bike. So far, I've been told that you actually need these flashy super thingies once you're at decent race pace. So, what benefits do we get when the bike is ridden within limits of sport-touring tyres?

The reason why I'm asking is that my bike is becoming a road-only machine this season. I had the front revalved and sprung to my weight a couple years ago, but the shock is still stock. It served me just well enough in the B-group, and I'm now wondering if revalving the shock would bring any appreciable benefit on the street.

Ok, so the question is not Ohlins-specific, but I guess it could be applied to any high-quality aftermarket suspension components. Cheers!

For what it's worth, the Brembo M4 monoblock calipers bolt straight on to the Ohlins FGRT813 forks I have fitted to my 2008 Blade, just need to install them without the spacer.
Not sure if these are dimensionally different to the FGRT204's or not.

How much are the FGRT 204 and what do the 30mm cartridge kits go for?

Hi fella I believe they are any weather tyres rather than specifically sports tourers. That is a price you have to pay living in the UK and wanting to ride bikes rregularly . You'll see jamie at track days this year and he'll get the most out of setup racing or not ;)

Coming at this from my background of 'big-ish miles'

Starting with the FJR 1300 at 18,000 mile service I had a Nitron fitted and it changed the handling of the bike massively. The bike was more responsive under powering out of bends. Don't forget this is a big heavy bike. My millage per tire increased by 2500 a set!!! Ridding fully loaded with a pillion was easily catered for with just a couple of clicks non of this hard n soft rubbish that was on originally.

AS for the Super Tenere it just made the whole bike more manageable especially in the bends. The M6 / M62 north bound 360 degree curve went from a sedate 55 mile an hour mooch into a 70 mile an hour hoot even with Ben on the back and fully loaded. I even scrapped the pegs with Mrs W on the back up in Scotland using Conti Trail Attacks!

So to summarise, better handling from the minute there fitted, increased millage from rear tyre and helps instil more confidence both in the bike and your own ability.

I believe its the best mod I have done on the last 2 bikes pound per mile. But this is just my non CBR opinion.

Hope it helps a little. Cheers Raymondo

The tyres are sports tourers and living here with cold and wet roads this time of year means the normal summer interact K3 choice isn't up to much :( also I do 500 miles a week to work and back and get three times the milage out of the PR3 than I do the k3 on the road so just makes it cheaper

The suspension is just better, can't put it more plainly, and I could say the rebound is better the compression blah blah blah

Everyone has an opinion on bike suspension, normally why spend that YOU won't feel or notice the difference on the road/track etc

Yet if you buy a top end bike eg SP, RSV4, hp4 or 1199 you get Ohlins as std on what is a road bike, because it hasn't been made to a budget

So basically yes it is better, yes I can tell and on track this year I am sure it will be even clearer how good it is :)

Ray, I have a non abs Anniversary edition with Gilles as-31-gt rear sets fitted also with an Akra end can. I struggled to get clearance on the swing arm with the Akra hanger. I ended up adjusting the ferral and rubber grommet on the rearset (the ferral was to long and when you tightened the bolt it pushed the hanger towards the swing arm). I also cut the back of the rubber grommet. These 2 mods ment when tightening bolt it drew the end can hanger towards the rear set and away from the swing arm. The Honda reservoir bracket should be removed and a spacer fitted when installing the rear set.

    Hope that made sense!

Cheers, guys! So, you've confirmed that a good suspension upgrade is worth the money for street riding too.
Actually, I feel the front is more planted with my Racetech stuff, but haven't felt the rear getting out of its depth yet. But then again, "the best you know is the best you've ridden."
Will start saving for the Racetech revalving. An Ohlins shock simply doesn't fit my budget.
