Just done a coolant change and when I waited for the fans to kick in I noticed that only the large fan was running. Does anyone know if these fans should come on together, or independently? I've checked that the connectors are all in place, so I'm thinking I might have to replace a fan? What a ball ache that would be having just put it all back together! Cheers
independently Im pretty certain..... 85 ish large fan and 92 ish for both I think or close to that......hope that helps
Thanks Bob. Not sure if I need to convert those temperatures? Basically the large fan is coming on at around 103 degrees, I'm just not seeing the small fan running at all! Or does the temperature have to rise beyond 103 degrees before the small fan kicks in? The large fan is quickly bringing the temperature down, so perhaps I'll only ever see the small fan running when it's REALLY hot. Hope so!
Sorry Slick your post must've been coming through as I was writing mine! That sounds about right then, as I thought I'm not getting it up to the higher temperature, which is why the left smaller not rad isn't coming on. Cheers Bob it was as you said too! I got out exactly the same amount as you Slick, about 2 litres. I took on board what you said and decided to take the rad off and another half a litre drained out! Stupid design aye! Lots of faffing about and cursing I can tell you!
I hate removing the fairings, it's like Honda put out a challenge to their boffins to how many different type of fastener can you use then got a origami master to chip in...
Yeah, surely it doesn't have to be that difficult does it! I can't believe you can't open the rad cap without taking off the right side fairing! Madness! As you say, those bloody plastic fasteners! As usual I have one left over and I don't know where it came from! Happens every time I work on the bike! I reckon I'll ride it down the road tomorrow and all the fairings will fall off! Come back with a naked street fighter!
