Hi Colin Trev and Ross, as Colin knows I've just taken in an Aprilia RSV 4 Factory, fitted a Austin Racing GP2R carbon slip on, sounds immense, hope to catch up with you all later in the year for a ride out and a blether.http://1000rr.co.uk/images/smilies/biggrin.gif
Soz not my second bike mate, rc 8 red bull got written off last year and been pondering what to replace it with
It is rather nice that bike Got to say I did enjoy riding it, and it was very comfortable which I thought I would never say with the bike being so small, with a great riding position. The engine is a beaut with plenty of character. Low down its a bit rough much like the big bang R1 then smooth as you like. Once you get to around the 9k mark it really shows its power. It is a very quick bike. I'd like 1 Oh and the sound. By fook does it sound good!!
Colin, you could hear it now mate, its booming, i thought the stock exhaust was loud but the austin is sweet, stock runs at 109db for mot according to v5 paper work which i think is loud
I'll hear it soon enough mate, once this weather warms up a touch. Hopefully next weekend and I'll be up for another blast if you fancy it.
Trev, i can't afford decent rubber as I'm still skint from our outing to stonehaven when i borrowed you £50
Ha Ha! £50? feck it lets just round it up to £100 mate!... Are you one of them loan shark dudes or is that just inflation
Lovely bike - hope you have a great summer on it. Once you have had something flash like the RC 8 you want to stay on special bikes I think
Lovely bike mate, recently traded my 2011 Repsol blade in for a 2009 Ractory one and too has the Austin Racing can - pure evil lol !! A quick question mate, mines barely covered 2800 miles but although it's a noisy engine, mine apparently is excessively tapperty/rattles at the top of the engine and dealer thinks the valve clearance service is needed as the noise reduces after a short time - wandering how noisy yours is and the mileage cheers buddy? Apart from the AR can, I've fitted some AVS shorties (cheers Andy @ DT) which are brilliant but need to change the gearing as it's hugely over geared ....
Hi Simon The tappety noise is a common problem on those bikes. I believe the dealers can fix it though by adjust the cam tensioner.
Hi Andy,am looking forward to catching up with everyone again once weather improves. That bike you've got looks great. Me and Ross thinking about a wee run up to the chipper at Stonehaven this week if you fancy it.
Simon, my rev 4 has only done 800 miles, i don't seem to have a noise as you described, here is my austin, I have the stubby one
Great thread... looking to replace my fireblade that was recently nicked. Was going to go for another blade... but started looking at RSV4s instead What are the pros/cons in your opinion? I liked the Fireblade power delivery (half-decent midrange) and handling... how does the RSV4 compare? I also liked the lack of electronics on the Fireblade... any views on the APRC? Worth getting a non-APRC RSV4?
