Hi, I have a RR6 with 17k and have been offered a very good trade on a RR8 with 7k am I being stupid not snapping that deal up? After a ride the main difference I could feel is mine has more torque down low but the RR8 handles better. Should i change?
    Thanks
    Nick.

I would also, but as always it's only my opinion.

You'll know yourself if it's the right thing to do.

Live with the RR8 and you will not think it has less torque low down, you can drive it from anywhere in the rev range.

It goes better, harder and handles batter than an RR6

    Game over.

Most RR8 blades burn oil , Nearly a litre every 1000 miles ! I could not live with that . Stick with your RR6 .

I've always thought the 6/7 were the best looking blades but the more I look at the newer shapes the more I prefer them.

As people say, is it an oil burner? Having said that I have an 07, always get more "I like that" comments than my mates 09. The 07 is sexier, no doubt and if you get a gearbox issue, its easier to sort out. I have ridden them both, got offered a great price to swap then said.................No I will stick with what I have, for me not enough difference for my riding. Just my 2 cents.

The 08 seemed to suit my riding style a little more. I don't think the whole oil thing bothers me too much to be honest.

I did 50K on an RR6 in 3 years, loved the bike, but the 08 on is a better bike, plain and simple. I live on one 6 days a week,
so I can appreciate the comparison between both.

Looks are subjective, the 08 on, is colour dependent IMO, some of the colours just make the bike look slabby.

You will not be disappointed if you change.

Think it's the colour that's helping sway me. It's red and black. Reminds me of the sp1/2 and I'm a sucker for those! Also like the look/sound of the arrow gp2's :)

My question is... Is the 08 better handling, or is it the fact that by the time you gave your trusty rr6-7 the suspension was tired and worn, all the bushes were getting baggy etc ??

Would investing in a set of ohlins, a suspension set up and a refresh of bushes and bearings all round, put it on par with the 08> ?

6's and 7's are sexier but what is the lap time difference between them and later models i wonder...

Just me pondering out loud... :)

I've ridden both on standard suspension, and the 08 onwards is better balanced, therefore better handling.

Kitting out your bike with better suspension, no matter what year it is, is always going to be better than a standard bike.
