    Hi,

Is there a cheaper way of me posting things?

i usually only like using recorded and special delivery as a signature is required - and lost items can be tracked etc..

i have no faith in 1st class and 2nd class post..

anyone got any thoughts? i sell a fair bit through ebay - small and big items how can i post on the cheap and still be covered..incase parcels go missing etc..

is there a good cheaper option othern then royal mail?

    thanks

Try parcel2go, it's really easy to use (after the 1st time) and you don't have to leave your house, there's also optional insurances which I'm sure will be noticeably cheaper than using Royal Mail.

Try "my Hermes". No experience myself of posting but lots of the stuff that comes here is coming via them now.

Another vote for parcelmonkey. A lot cheaper than RM for larger or heavier items :)

Hermes without a doubt as you can also arrange collections from addresses.... It's done on weight.... But often a sensible weight is suggested by courier collecting item.... No payments made at door as it's all done online after you register an account....

I think Parcel2 go have a balls up on their website. If you are posting an item ( Not sure on size limits ) and are prepared to drop it off at a local shop and the recipient can also pick it up at their end from a shop you can get it sent for 75p + vat for next day delivery through ups.

Done it last week, post office want £8, arrived next morning and the buyer picked it up when he got home from work at a shop 2 minutes away from him. Bargain !

Another vote for Myhermes use them all the time. But does take about a week to arrive and £250 is the max you can insure something for. Also has online tracking.

Hate Parcel2go as they dropped my engine and wouldnt pay out any insurance so will never recommend them again!

I've started using Hermes for my ebay stuff.

Collect plus are a bunch of thieving scum f**ks ( in my opinion ) they stole a pair of dainese leather trousers I'd posted last year, made it to their sorting depot but never left. Played awkward on the insurance and left me a ton out of pocket.

Great if you want to pay ludicrous prices and have 3 out of 4 packages go missing (see nicked by the postie)

A very serious allegation! Proof? Remember "it's in the post" is one of the most often told lies.

If you use recorded delivery this is NOT trackable, it is treated as normal mail except it requires a signature on delivery. If you are sending items of value it is worth paying the extra for special delivery as it is tracked all the way through the system and is covered for compensation. In my opinion this is still the best way of sending valuable items.
