i used to run my 2 strokes on trex chip oil! it was like 40p for a massive tub... when i went past it used to smell like a chinese chippy did the job tho. someone was saying the original cassy r contained whale oil, and thats why you cant get it so readily???
Thats only a myth as far as I known. The reason Castrol dont produce loads of them oils is the new Oils are so much better but m&p sell the R40 cheap Enough.
I went on a vmcc run from landsend the other day and one of the old 2 strokers was smellin ansome but it was running a bit rich and eventually it got a bit sickly. please don't flog me for this
Yes you can have too much of a good thing. Good thing about adding a dash to your tank Is that unlike a two stroke it isn't overpowering
funny you should say that, i was out with a chap on an old nsr and it was ok when i let him get ahead but up close it smelt like warm baby spew :/
I ran my 1200cc stroker jetski [super stock] with 747 castrol due too the constant high revs, engine temp has to be high for the oil to burn correctly. R40 full castor R30 Full castor less viscosity 747 part castor part synthetic [semi] If your gonna be putting a cap full in your tanks use 747,its thinner. I've done endless testing on stroker oils so with our big fuel injected blades it shouldn't play havoc with the injectors.{D} As for running diesels with a castor has diesel got oil in it anyway. I've tried the chippy oil route and no issues in my Iveco. {D}= Disclaimer.
Also it has a limited shelf life has it hold water in the molecules, It settles in the tank when left, have to shake ski/bike before use.
yeah was chatting more with a few old skool racers and they said mixed with petrol in cans it didnt go off until it had been sitting more than a few weeks and said my mixing at 1000:1 shouldnt cause any mixing issues a all because its such a little quantity. I asked a good lot of questions before doing this as I dont want to damage a bike for the sake of an old skool smell.
I used to build and fly R/C model planes and we use casrol M (or R) mixed with methanol at 1:5 ratio and it smells fantastic. A lot of people use synthetics like coolpower but you need to be careful as inhaled droplets can be carcinogenic.
a mate of mine who is a top notch mechanic and ex road racer, has run castrol R in all his bikes for years (added to the petrol that is) recently running a gsxr 600, so today i have taken the plunge and ordered one litre from fleebay for £12-95. so "happy days are here again" ha ha !!
Someone else likes the smell of castrol R Seen this on youtube today, thats me popping Up here an there but I think liked when I passed A few times in the last quarter of the vid lol
Diverse use of Castrol R Also comes in useful for sex... ...put it on the door handles, it stops the kids coming in!
If anyone is still interested This smells exactly the same as Castrol r https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Shell-Ad...Oil-Pack-Of-2-x-1-Litre-Bottles-/142282753418 can’t beat the smell
