No Shaun, service done a while ago, only started last wednesday, I have ridden the bike since then without having to switch off the engine and it runs fine, no loss of power/no missing as in a plug down.

Is the bike charging the battery while you're riding?? If not then its defo a Reg/Rec fault.

When you ride your bike the front headlight is on, as well as the rear number plate light, position lights, then there's ECU power and all the sensors etc, exhaust valve servo, then any indicators etc you use on a run, heated grips too if you have them. All that can drain a battery pretty quickly so the next time you stop and switch off and then try to start the battery doesn't have enough juice in it.

If you can bump start the bike and it starts then it the bike isn't charging the battery when your engine is running.

The battery seems to be charging when riding, but I have put a meter on the battery when trying to start it hot and it's showing 12.3V and as soon as I hit the starter the battery will drop to 6V.

OK little update, managed to get a starter motor for £40 on ebay, just put it on and tried it with the same result, so I guess it's not the starter (anyone want to buy a starter for 07 blade lol).

Check all your connections. Make sure the battery terminals ate clean. Check the ground wire and open the starter button housing and check for loose wires

12.3 volts ain't enough to start anything, at anytime. Seat off, take an AVO, set to volts, red lead to positive, black to negative. Do this when the bike has cooled down and will normally start. Start the bike and see what reading you have on the voltmeter, anything less than 13.8 with all the lights on and you have a charging issue. Rev the bike (not mad silly, but up to about 2500 to 3000 rpm) the voltage reading should rise, or at least stay about 13.8 v. If it drops, you have a charging issue. As someone has said, the rectifier could be knackered.
If it seems like I am "talking down" to you, I am not, you would be shocked if I told you how many people I have explained this too, have got it wrong and "bombed" the electrics by connecting the voltmeter the wrong way round. If you are unsure, get someone who knows their way around bike electrics to do for you. By the way, the advice above is just that.........Advice, if you have a go and total the electrics, don't blame me.

Just as an extra thought, what reading does the battery give in volts when fully charged? If it isn't 13 or thereabouts,, chances are the battery is also knackered.

+1 on checking ground(s). I had a car with hot/warm start problems which disappeared after all grounds were cleaned and re-tightened.
