cheers dave!! you dont know it yet, but your going to be paid cups of tea to help me with it.... its mere geographical selection im afraid.... ha ha

strange though hey, i love my blade, and my r6 before it, and was gutted to let it go, but things move on, new bikes get better and you soon love the next one as much as the last, but that little vfr, the thought of selling just never crosses my mind!

wanted one soooo bad when i was younger, never forget finally getting my hands on it.... happy happy days! which is why it's terrible its not looking totally mint and being used, feel guilty everytime i open the garage door....

Be more than happy to mate, these bikes are one of my all time favorites. Think it's the single swing arm, looks sooooooo cool.

Offers on the table with the lad. Think he was going to clear it with he's dad who will convince him it's worth something silly like 800, which he can jog on for.

over the last 5 years i,ve restored 2 350lc,s a gpz900r and currently a tdr250. i,ve always been good with that sort of thing and have picked it up from older brothers, i usually strip the bike right down to frame placing everything in boxes then when frames away been painted or powdered i then just start picking out items and preparing for refit. it can be time consuming and very costly if your doing a real good job which i did on 1 of the lc,s but it turned out so clean i was just not taking it out for fear of getting dirty or marked. the tdr i,m doing is to a lower standard but will still look good once finished but i may need to use this 1 more so don,t want a pristine finish. it is very rewarding once finished but can be times thru the job when you think why did i start!! always plenty of help here and other forums more specific to the bike involved if you hit a stumbling block!!

Old brit bikes need different size spanners but parts relatively easy to source. One that's running is a good start, can do it bit by bit then. As above, register on the forums. Take pictures before you dismantle. Usually owners groups to meet up with too.

I restored a 350 lc about 5 years ago. Mostly NOS parts. Completely standard.

    More recently a 900ss

Do you want to do a full blown restoration or just tidy up an old bike.

A proper back to standard restoration can be big money. And depending on what era bike you are restoring parts can be tricky to source if the bike isn't complete.

Basically it's a piece of piss a monkey could do it. It's just having the dedication to see it through.

Another quick word of warning don't believe everything you read about certain parts being discontinued, various magazines and forums have started myths that certain parts are no longer available. While I was restoring my LC it was a common belief that hi-lo horns were discontinued, I was buying them from yamaha for £50 a pair and selling them on ebay for triple the price the next day. Most recently practical sportsbike magazine published an article about NC30'S and said that rear tank mount rubbers are NLA. Got straight onto fowlers Bristol bought 10 at about 5 quid each and stuck them on ebay for £20 a go sold out in a week.

If going for a nut and bolt restoration do your research to get things right.
