. Search this sight How Many Left? for an overview of just how many 'blades are taxed or 'Sorned' at any one time. Quite an eye-opener. Must be a few that have 'never turned a wheel in anger'. Nick.
Totally over inflated price been up for sale for years. One sold recently at Bonhams for 57K Bonhams : c.1992 Honda NR750 Frame no. RC40 2000098 I see bikes coming in for their MOT's that do 30 miles a year, basically how far the customer has to come for the MOT each year.
Why on earth would you buy a bike and not use it? I put 1500 miles on my SP in 6 weeks. What is point of having something you never use? It's like having porn but never watching it...utterly pointless...
I know some owners get so caught up in how clean and new the bike is they become scared to use it in case it gets a stone chip, heaven forbid.
Had a German guy buy myzx6r last year, asked why he came to UK to buy,his reply, you guys don't use them, they just sit in garages getting polished and modified.Apparantly he came over to the UK every three months and bought six bikes at a time.
you could be right in that its a waste but in my circumstances if i sold the bike the money would disappear elsewhere then i,d never be able to afford another one. as my boys get older then the wife won,t be working nights and so i have more free time. both brothers and few mates all packed in bikes when kids were young and have now come back to it. i,ve been able to keep mine thru it albeit rarely used.
Well, it is possible but rare, really rare. Look for the typical wear-and-tear signs: a) are the tyres still original? Any scrachtes on the rims, which would suggest many changes? b) are the pegs and/or handlebar grips worn well above what is expected for 2,000miles? c) look at the sides of the tank, how many scratches are there, on the sides, around petrol cap. d) look at the seats, unually worn for 2,000miles? e) are the chain and sprockets still OE? f) check the brake discs. Unusally worn for 2,000miles?
I bought my Blade last month, it was 10 months old and had 700 miles on I've now doubled that I don't know how people can put so few miles on bikes TBH, if I go for a rideout it's at least 100 miles and I try and do that at least once a week in the summer. Put 10k on my VFR in 18 months.
Some lads just like to own a bike,my mate's bike goes for a service and mot then never sees daylight till next year total waste imo
Tbh I don't find this at all strange. We bought a new hover a couple of years back, that ain't covered much carpet to date.
Think our Hoover's travelled round the world most of the miles done when I've got a stinking hangover
sounds a bit suspicious to me. I recently brought a blade and it had only done 400 miles in 2 years. I questioned the guy about it
can belive it to be honest just got a 43 year old norton with 18 k on it 2 owners and every single mot to prove millage done few hundred a year then lay offs then a few hundred again depends on the owner i guess but by the same rule i put 8 k on my old gsxr 600 in half a year haha
