That's not good, glad you came out the other side on 2 wheels
So what would cause it too not brake with throttle slightly open, ecu fault?

Is it possible that your fault IS the same as others? And it's just that others havnt realised that the problem occurred whilst on partial throttle. I'm sure that people with ABS problems are going to test the theory anyway.

Can't say I've ever tried to brake on an open throttle of any degree!

Abs Is compareing front /rear Speed
    With Throttle you generate Slip
If front Speed Is significant Slower then rear Speed abs asumes that vr Is close to block

    Nice one matey, well avoided.

Please can you confirm, year of bike, if you have had a brake bleed, if so dealer or self bled, most important, did the lever collapse back to the bar, if not, did it maintain pressure feel and just loss of braking, if so was there intial retardation or not?

Sorry to ask truck loads of questions, but I have not thought much about throttle position in relation to braking, and yes I will be trying this on the way to work tomorrow

    Thanks

I tired riding with the throttle open and brake on this morning......now whether the lever span is set differently or my hands are not the right size, its fecking hard to do and it feels unnatural.

Once I was able to gets throttle open and brake on repeatedly, I could not get the brakes to fail, ie not stop the bike. The lever pressure stayed consistent and the bike slowed.

What I did notice is that on application of brake, the engine continues at the same speed, ie the computer does not over ride the throttle input, so the bike does not slow as fast as when you shut the throttle and brake.

It is this issue that switched me off of twin clutch (ie smg/dsg) cars, where the computer is programmed to stop you applying throttle and brake at the same time, and the brakes win out, whereas I drive twin pedal cars with both feet and like to trail brake in certain situations whilst applying throttle.

So could it be, that when you experienced this, it was just the amount of throttle input caused the bike to go further than you was expecting?

    Glad u ok Velocity stu,
Ive had a couple of weird ones 2.
Twice ive been parked on a slight uphill and in gear, got on, started it up and went to squeeze front brake while kicking the stand away and the bike rolled backwards! (had the clutch in)
This is on a week old blade from 2 Wheels in Edinburgh.

I've had this 3 times while on track but can't say if I had throttle open slightly. It's going in on 2nd June coz I've had the lever to the bar 3 times now too :-( Brake bleed coming.

I have experience similar in the past.

On hard braking from speed all of a sudden there was much reduced braking, level does not collapse but it seems only the rears are being applied?. Posted a vid of this in a thread somewhere....
Luckily it was on a track so was able to use the run off, otherwise it would have been nasty.

It only happened once that day and took a few more session on the track to regain confidence.

It hasn't happened since but the following have been done on the bike, which may or may not alleviate any issues

Multiple bleeds using ATE super blue
    Regular caliper and disc servicing
Updated 2012 ABS ECU( its a 2009 bike)
Uprated forks and weight matched internals
    Brembo RCS and braided lines
