Always just used a little copper grease and never had any problems.
Don't recall having to use a special tool to remove front axle when i fitted carbon mudguard, just undo axle bolt nearly all the way then pinch bolts and you should be able to push axle out. Dont forget torque wrench for doing it all up again.

Shouldn't need one, its should just push through when all bolts are undone :)

    No special tools.

Just the correct size sockets :)

I have seen a special tool on eBay to put inside the axle to undo it so that confused me

Never had a issue reusing the same bolts. mine are the orignial and have been on and off many times including this week they have been out 3-4 time to fit wets. I have the wheels in the car ready to get the road tyres re fitted and never had a issue

The bolts will be fine, if you grease the bolt it will affect the torque, but we're getting a little carried away here. I might change them if some daft bugger has garthed them on, but just the next convenient time I was doing a PM.

    .

If you follow the workshop manual you'll be shelling out 70 quid every time you remove the calipers. There must be a reason why Honda specify new bolts every time they're removed but I can't imagine what it might be. After-all, they are 'in shear' as opposed to 'in tension'. I wonder if there's some heat (generated from braking) related expansion/contraction going on along the axis of the bolts that introduceses an element of metal fatigue over a period of time.

    Nick.

Yes Morph U do need one of those but that shoulda come with the Bike, if not then U do need one as this goes inside a standard 3/4 Drive socket and then goes inside the axle nut.

U may be getting confused because of the other reference to caliper bolts.

Sorry for hijacking this post guys. I got confused as the Haynes doesn't show the tool I've seen on eBay.
That's what I've seen on eBay mate.
Any that I should stick clear of?

Don't 'over tighten' the spindle/axle clamping bolts. Somebody posted a pic' on this forum where they'd done that and split the forks. NASTY!
