Hi guys, I have the 2009 blade. I know there are some posts about clunk noises when selecting first gear, that's pretty normal. Though my problem is once selected, when I set off I hear a clear clunk noise sometimes twice as I am accelerating from down near my right foot. This can't be normal, right? Any advice or help would be much appreciated guys. Thanks in advance.
I've got a stiff link in my chain, and mine does it when it needs oiling... Try oiling the chain first to eliminate it.
How many miles is on the bike? You might wanna look into the likes of the swing arm bearing are ok, miby worth looking at the shock linkages too. Also check the exhaust isn't hitting anything as you say you thinks it's mor the right side than left. Hope you get to the bottom of it and it's a cheap fix mate.
I will be lubing the chain later today and check tension. I'll check the sprocket too. The bike has 9,500 miles on it. cheers!!!
My first thought was loose chain.. can cause all sorts of niggles if the chain isnt adjusted correctly.
My 2000 R6 does the same, a random clunk can be felt through the foot pegs - having looked at the sprockets and they're fine but the chain has a few tight spots in it which must be the problem as you can't adjust the chain correctly? Will see when DT get back to me with a price for a new chain & sprocket kit !
Was indeed the chain, bit too slack. Took it to the boys at Honda (as I don;t have the tools) they tightened chain, lubed it, added a litre of oil for £30. Thanks to you guys for the heads up, much appreciated!!!
Better get the tools as you will need to adjust it every 300 - 600 miles.. Will get expensive if you get honda to do it each time.
only needs a socket and a spanner......just be aware that the markings on the swingarm for alignment are ok,but not brilliant.
