Ok guys been looking into this. I don't use clutch on most upshifts unless in town traffic. I believed this is ok on a blade but someone said it's not a dog box and therefore shouldn't do it as it will mess up the synchros? Just wondered if others do it and if we should or shouldn't be doing it?!? Obviously this is the poor mans HM GP quickshifter....
Never had an issue with any of my bikes up-shifting this way.No reliability problems either.Oh and I'm a poor man
Sorry mate been flat out p.s. just so were on the same page can you pm me a link to a picture please.
yes its fine, exactly the same as having a quickshifter anyway as that only kills spark doesnt do anything with the box. As long as you roll off the throttle all is fine. Quick shifter just lets you stay on the gas also
Yep same here, clutchless upshift out of built up areas when revs are high enough. Done the same on all my bikes bar the wee 125 I had. Never had a problem. Only issue is on the 600RR where it is a bit more sticky. Even using the clutch actually. Is there any way to improve/smoothen this ?
quickshifters are for people who cant change gear load the lever. snap the throttle closed a fraction then back on it. works every time and wont damage the box....
what is the cost for this? i shift up without clutch - never thought about down - would i benefit for road riding and south of France trip?
Have you actually tried one on track? If you want to go quick it's essential IMO.... Wouldn't be without one now. And I can change gear perfectly well on my standard road bike
it isn't a dog box? not sure what that means, but the dogs are the lugs on the side of the cogs that mesh into the recess on the adjacent cog,i know the 09 blades had them @(well they did on the 2 that broke ),no idea how they are engineered on later models, but everysingle gearbox i know of works in this way. this is 1 reason why on (HRC especially) gear boxes they can be a bit clunky at lower revs in lower gears, because they have less dogs,3 from memory and standard boxes have 5+,so takes that little bit longer to mesh together.
I think he's referring to race shift pattern which is reversing the shift rod position so the bike is 1up and 5down. Enables you to change gear in tight left handers where you couldn't get your foot under shifter easily. The auto down blipper which I think you mean is not yet released for the road but is essentially a extra unit added to your HM or other kit which auto blips throttle during down change.
you can get shifters for road bikes/track now that will allow clutchless down changes.techtronics do them. also ppowershifters which chnage on a button not lever
The mv f4 comes with that as standard. Auto blip and clutchless down change.... Not that you can't do it on a normal box, just needs to be timed perfect or isn't pretty. Can't imagine it being very good for it either....
my track bike is a 1999 GSXR 600. cost about the same as a QS ! i dont track to shave the tenths of seconds. im still getting the twisty bits right and yes i can stay with bikes fitted with shifters. i have a sequential gearbox on order that should do the trick Mr C -have you done any days at Rockingham this year ?
