Hi Guys potencial blade owner checking in. Currenly ride a 999s and can be found over on the Ducati forum taking the piss out of Multistrada owners lol As you can see I do like the odd track day Im after a bit of a project bike and have spotted this. Honda CBR 1000 RR-8 CBR1000 FIREBLADE TRACK BIKE WITH V5 LONG MOT 2008 57 PLATE | eBay Im just wondering if anyne on here knows the bike. I know it wont be a minter but in the same breath I dont want to buy a turd. I know about the 08 oil burning problem than can plague some bikes, so is there any tell tale signs to look for? Any other known faults worth just checking?
Hi Mr C and most welcome ...Looks like you know your way around a bike or two I had an 08 with no issues at all and was a top bike . It didn't use any oil and one would imagine for every blade that liked a touch of oil there would be 50 like mine . It looks like you are cute enough to suss any " extra wear" so if its within reach take a look.
Welcome to the forum, can't help with advice on your search and oil burning etc as I ride the proper model with the underseat exhaust Good luck with your search
A few emails and a phone call to the dealer and I still don't know if they want a deal on that blade! No one calls or mails me back.. Must be doing really well and don't need the sale lol
Welcome to the forum and all the best with the search. my 11 plate does not drink oil or have ABS issues
I had read the oil drinking issues were only on the 08 bikes and even then its few and far between, not overly worried about that
I had a 08 oil drinker, but since I was racing it it didn't matter really as by the time the oil was low it was time for a change anyway... great bikes, you'll love it compared to the duc.. are you chopping in the duc? If your really interested go down to the dealer, they would be happy to do a deal, but I think that they would prefer to talk face to face other than work out deals over the internet
I will either sell the 999 or chop it in. Much as I love my 999 and I have thrown a fair bit of wedge at it over the years the riding position is killing my right wrist (Too much wanking in my youth) Its ok on track or if Im making decent progress on a twist road as I'm moving around on the bike a lot more. But just pottering around and riding within the law!! destroys my wrist within a few miles and then its aching for days after. I did test ride a blade about 2 years ago and straight away felt far more comfortable, plus I really enjoyed it. I rode my mates Panigale the other week and that was far less of an aggressive riding position the the 999.. Sadly I don't have Panhandle money and im not a big fan of the 1098 bikes. I have always had a soft spot for the blade and fancy building a TT Legends replica. Im just in the process of de-blinging my bike its not getting sold with its HM-QS and slipper clutch that's for starters. I had an insurance quote for a Blade and its comparable with my Ducati. I did some research on that dealer and it turns out they are part of webuyanybike.com so I would guess the only deal I would get would be bottom book price then minus some more. Id have swapped my bike for that blade and that's about it. Clearly that not the way they roll. Im not in a mad rush to get a blade.
You won't regret getting a blade, put the HM QS on the blade, sell the slipper clutch and the duc, and start saving for a blade... I had a 07 blade then a 08, then 2 years no blade and bought a 13 blade in december...... one of the easiest bikes to go fast on, pity it has been the same since 2008, but I'm sure the next new blade will be a bomb on 2 wheels
The HM QS wont fit on the blade as it is built in to lever specific to the Ducati rather than a module on a shaft. I'd like to try the new HM SS (Seamless shift) Just out of interest how comparable is the 08 to 13?
Welcome to the site Mr C, there's an active group of members up here in the Northwest, regular rideouts, meals out, trackdays.......you'd be welcome to come along if you fancy. In fact we have a trip to Wales this Sunday and the weather's looking good up to now.
Ha ha, us Ducatsi are invading 1000rr now then as I'm on the ducati forum too. I've hear that problem too yet doesn't seem to be a regular issue for the 08'. I'm looking at getting an 09'HRC CBR1000 at the moment...
