I went for the pro 4 oil, 10w - 40. Put it in yesterday not ridden it yet mind.

Worried me above with the offroad statement, looked at their website its under 4 stoke racing oils so is onroad.. Plus theres an S1000RR on the bottle :) Perhaps theres a pro 4 offroad also?

Yeah sure it will be fine, was bought as a package from M&P with the filter for a CBR1000RR4. So looks like M&P need to change their package deal also!

Well went out for a quick blat on mine but didnt notice any real difference yet.. Need longer to see if there's any fuel saving etc but engine note and gear selection feels as it was.. Mind the oil in there before had only done 1000 miles or so.. Only changed it as was worried had some metal filings etc from the rebuild project.

Does seem very thin and runny.. Wondering if a slightly thicker viscosity would work better than 10w - 40 in the hot summer months.

Cheers Lambchops. I'll probably use it up then. Just wait to see what the overall consensus is.

Have done some 200 miles since putting in the Comp4 10W30 on Saturday and I can definitely feel the difference in terms of smoother gear changes and slightly less vibration from the engine. Very happy with it! :)

Hi guy that's been just over a fortnight I've had the Silkolene pro 4 energy in the Blade now and there is a definite difference in the amount of fuel I'm using not so much according to the trip computer but the miles I'm getting between fill ups so she's definitely using less fuel along with all the other benefits that come from this oil !
I wasn't actually look for this but it must be the direct comparison with the two oils that shows it so clearly but all good!
I've been using Silkolene energy for a couple of years now with no clutch issues at all and with better gear changes!

Just thot I'd post a wee update :)

Thanks mate, that is indeed good and very useful info- I'd feel more inclined to test the PRO4 based on your reassuring feedback- can't beat first hand experience! :)

Does the Silkolene make any difference in the amount of oil the engine burns??

    Hi Guys
What grade should I use 10w40 or 10w30 or does it not matter.

    Cheers Stu

The oil debate never ends. TBH, with my Motul 5100 I use, it can feel fresh some days (gearbox feel) even with 5000km's on it, and some days feel clunky even if I have just done like 500km's on a fresh change.

Doesn't really matter what high end oil you use. Unless there's some kind of lab analysis, it's pretty subjective.
