That front Paddock stand was faulty which is why I was struggling with it. Demon Tweeks sent it back to Harris for inspection and I got a full refund and now have a much superior under spigot front stand, again by Harris. ........................so there!
Is that really level?? I notice when i put mine on the paddock stands the back is higher than the front....
I get Elaine to stand at the side of the bike holding it upright whilst checking oil but also I have a small spirit level on the seat to be absolutely accurate .what I have found however even using a measuring jug it always needed an extra 100 ml over the recommended amount on a full oil and filter change.
Guys - oil level is worth checking but honestly - you have 500 - 700ml I think from lower to upper on the dipstick - keep it in the upper 1/2 or 3/4 on the stick and all is good.
If you cant even check the oil, whatever you do don't buy a warrior bike lift, I don't think the forum would be able to cope with the questions.
If you don't know how to do something then the only way to learn is to ask. I am sure in our respective trades we have all been asked something which was obvious to us.
I check mine when cold...unless i have done an oil change, then start for a min, off, leave for 5 mins and then check
1. Warm engine up, switch off and put bike on side stand 2. Remove dip stick, wipe clean and place back in 3. After a couple of mins, bring bike up to vertical then put back on side stand 4. Remove dip stick and ckeck level Works for me
First off; and most importantly: Make sure you have some oil handy (of the same grade/type/make that was put in at the last oil change) in case it does need topping up. No point in bothering if you haven't got any is there? Next; make sure the dip stick can be undone with only your right hand before straddling the bike. Thirdly; have some clean rag/tissue handy, otherwise you'll be getting off the bike to go and get some. And, lastly, why not check your oil level after a ride? Let the bike stand for 5 mins whilst you get out of your boots/leathers/helmet, check and, if needed, re-replenish. Then you won't have go through this rigmarole next time there's a break in the showers. And, as already been pointed out, don't screw the dipstick back in when your checking. I, personally, like to rotate it anti-clockwise an extra turn or two so as there's a 'level' line to read on the stick , but that's just me. Nick.
Mine is having clutch issues.... The fill level on a paddock stand is about 5mm over the top line. I'm worried! Should it be checked on side stand or paddock or just level?? Will it make much difference ?
Out of you ?!?? Nope ... Are the dealers taking the piss ? Probably . What I need to know is would it cause clutch issues such as hard to change gear etc
Lots of people have gone to the trouble of posting helpfull comments in this thread, thought your comment was taking the piss. It's obvious now if you've read it all, you don't check it on a paddock stand or side stand etc etc just LEVEL !
