The rc8 is the only bike I fancy anywhere near as much as my Fireblade. I daren't take one for a test ride. A friend had one but I could outdrag it out of corners. And I'm not that quick.
I thought the same until I bought the SP1. I love the instant power and torque from a V-Twin. If I was to buy a RC8 I would wait until the new 1 comes out in 2015
So finally, does some of yours buy a RC8R after his Fireblade ? Whart do you think now ? In terms of engine and handling ?
My O/H sold his RC8 at the end of summer last year... and he has gone on and on and on about how much he regrets selling it.But as luck would have it he noticed his old RC8 was for sale,so guess what we are doing next Saturday... Yup, picking up his old bike with a promise to never sell it again... I do hope the weather has improved by then cos im riding it back from London`ish.... Happy husband on its way.. I love RC8`s they are mental..
My mate races one in the Hottrax Endurance and he does love it but it just doesn't keep up with the 4 cylinders.
When I rode the RC8R at Brands it was around 25-30MPH slower than a GSXR1000 down the start/Finnish straight. However I was grinding away the foot pegs on each corner. Sweet handling.
If it's owt like my mates new 1199 panic girlie , I don't like it very lumpy thing and the power delivery ain't very smooth to say the least. When I got back on my blade I thought it was running on electric it felt that smooth. Not knocking a v twin, it's each to their own and it's deffo not for me.
Thanks for posting - just Googled it KTM Announces Plans to Enter MotoGP in 2017 with a V4-Powered KTM RC16 Race Bike
KTM made a GP engine some years back, one of the most powerful GP motors Akrapovic have ever dyno'd, it's nothing's new for them.
Who knows, that motor and the GP info was from 2002, wonder how they'd do now power wise. KTM know a thing or two about GP bikes.
