Firstly, hi guys, not posted much on here since getting my 2013 Repsol in December, so hi all!

Unfortunately, due to an old biking accident injury, I can no longer ride sports bikes, so reluctantly put the bike up for sale. Would have put on here, but don't have enough posts.

Anyway, a guy emails me saying he's really keen on the bike, but would I hold it for him as he is just about to change jobs. He is talking about 8-10weeks, which if it falls through means I've lost the best selling months, and is happy to leave a deposit. Strange thing is he hasn't even sled to view the bike? I know it's nearly new and low mileage, with extra Honda warranty bought, but still seems strange....what do you guys think??

    Thanks in advance

Bike is worth more in August than it is in October/November. Personally I would sell it to the first person with the money.

Sell it to the first person to cough up the cash. Scam or not I wouldn't hold onto the bike for that long

I agree with above, if it's a 13 plate repsol, you're looking at what 8.5-9k as a private sale?.....even losing 5% off that for a winter sale is a big chunk of cash. I'd be wanting a non refundable £1k to hold it, and even then I'd be reluctant. Do you really want to be telling some stranger who could be madder and badder than you in 8 weeks that your keeping his grand? Probably better to spin it down to the coast and let me enjoy it!

    Thanks for the reply guys!

Totally agree with all the comments. I haven't had any firm interest in the bike other than this guy, hence me even considering it.
I thought I'd priced it about right, allowing for a bit of haggling, what do you guys think?

'2013 non abs Repsol, extra years Honda warranty bought when new(still 2 years left), FSH, 3.5k miles, honda single seat cover, USB charging point for sat av or phone plus iPhone waterproof holder, shorty levers, rad guard, tail tidy etc.....£8995 ono'

I'd say price is about right. I'd want at least a £1000 deposit to keep it, but as above - you would be better to sell it now.

Sell it ASAP, he may be well intended, yet thats a lot of cash and as I've learnt there aren't as many people around with cash as you'd expect when wanting to sell. I agree its the best time of the year too, people may have seen a bike like yours and thought they want one now or someone may have tried a mates etc. sell it now.

A lot of water flows under a bridge in 8 weeks. things change, he may be very well intentioned but when his job falls through/wife wants to part/ interest rates go up, his intentions may be forced in another direction. Bird in hand thing wasn't said for nothing. But if he's all you have £1000.00p non refundable, sounds about correct with me, make sure you have a 'handy' mate in the background when he wants the money back tho.
    Good luck Mike.

Was on eBay for a couple of weeks, but not currently.

Not happy with the whole hold the bike for 8-10 weeks, so i think I'll reduce the price to £8600 and see what happens.

I hope you don't mind me saying, The bike is a lovely machine, my advice for what its worth. Don't put the price down, that won't really put people that are interested off, they will offer what they want to pay. Get plenty good photographs, use a mate that has an interest in photography (photographers love to show off the skills) no junk in the background plain backdrop etc. And some real close ups to show it off. do a really long detailed write up, listing its history in detail, tell them you love it.... This will be someone's pride and joy. Make it a special Bike! Be patient, when the person that REALLY wants it arrives it will sell easy.
    Good Luck,
    ....Mike.
