I purchased a 2013 Speed Triple 6 months ago and seem to remember there are some other owners on here? If so, any Forums you can recommend?

I find the bike great on smooth roads, but the ride is very harsh (poor) on bumpy stuff - even at lower speeds. I've had the suspension setup but its still not as good as I expected. Any suggestions?

    Cheers,

    Ian.

Take it back to the place you had it setup. Explain to them what your experiencing, and they will be able to adjust it to suit.

After all they were the ones who put the base settings in and always look for feedback.

Thanks for the reply Colin, I have emailed them. Triumph owners manual states same front settings for standard and soft?!

That chart in your post is pointless... how can the same settings apply equally to a 9-stone nipper and an 18-stone mauler?

My biking buddy has a 2011 Speed Triple (don't know if this is different from yours). He had the same problem after having the suspension "set up"... he's quite a chunky chap and they had dialled the suspension to get the required static sag, even with his considerable "load" (i'm trying to be tactful here, just in case he ever gets a blade and joins this forum!!!)

Problem was, this had used up too much suspension travel, resulting in a bike that baulked at the slightest hint of road imperfection. He's taken it elsewhere, and they've backed the rear pre-load off... means the static sag is not in the ideal range, but the suspension has something to work with. He' bit the bullet now, and it will soon be in the garage having a new Nitron rear shock fitted in time to join me on a trackday in September.

Thanks for the reply. Agree the chart is pointless - but its in the manual that comes with the bike.

Mine is the same as the 2011 so some useful info there.

    Cheers,

    Ian.

I have a 2011 speed triple, I am on the Triumph Torque forums, seems to be a bit of banter on there, but they are harsh! Not as kind as here

Thanks for the reply. I find my Blade (2013) fine on standard settings on all types of roads but I am really struggling with the Speed Triple on anything but the smoothest road. Let me know how you go on with the suspension setup.

    Cheers,

    Ian.

I had a 2008 Speed triple and found most of the triumph forums rather crap so just used Pistonheads and the main Triumph forum club for any specific questions. you will probably get better feedback on here than most triumph forums

I've rode the earlier ones - really comfy ride and great all rounder.

I've backed off rebound and compression front and back, and also reduced front preload. It is now much better at higher speeds, but ride still poor at lower speeds. It came with Metzeler Racetec tyres - I am going to try Pilot Road 4 to see if that makes any difference to the ride.

That might be the reason then, don't go slow too often :p and when I do I'm looking around so don't pay much attention to the ride.....will take note next time I'm out :)

Mine came with mitchelin pilots on and they seem pretty good

Good stuff - let me know how you get on with it!

I don't know about easier on the wallet. I'm finding it uses a lot more fuel than my Blade (typically fuel light on at less than 110 miles). The rear Metzeler Racetec only lasted 1500 miles. I have just put some Pilot Roads on - hopefully they will last a bit longer.

I've been thinking of getting a speed triple and have ridden a couple and found that the suspention a little to hard for my liking
On speaking to my dad as he has owned a couple of speed triple again he said fantastic bike but suspention set up a little on the hard side
So if I did trade in my blade for a speed triple that's the first thing I would do
