Changed the front sprocket to a 15 Tooth (-1 from standard) today and all I can say is WOW! Love it, went for an extended blast and what a blast 3rd gear is now from around 40mph.. like a new bike! I know most of the guys on here have probably done the +2 rear (44 tooth) or the front -1 - so this will be nothing new but if you haven't done this, its only a £15 front sprocket change and go try it! PS - bought the +2 rear as well but the bloody chain is just to tight.. don't think I'm going to bother fitting it anyways..
Probably been asked a gizillion times before but does this bring the speedo further out of whack or closer?
The reason I ask, I asked for a 55 when I bought a new tyre last week.got home and started to fit wheel and noticed fitted the same as what came off a 50. I'm running standard gearing.
I checked my speedo vs the tom tom app on my iPhone today after changing the gearing. At 40 on the speedo, I was reading 37 on the GPS speedo from the iPhone..
Is the speed variable not exponential though? The faster you go the bigger the gap. At slow speeds the gap is minimal but say at around 130mph on the speedo you'll only be doing about 110mph. The clever people will be able to confirm this. I believe you need a gadget called a yellow jacket to correct it.
Yeah -1 +2 here, you will enjoy on track, shame I am stuck in novice, and asked to swap but nothing yet, will see you Thursday mate will ask to swap again at Track
Need some info guys.... What pitch do need for 2012 blade, standard rear and chain, all started to track days any recommendations ? regards
HealTech Electronics Ltd. – Smart Tech for your Ride – SpeedoHealer v4 This is what you want for speedo calibrations.........
Thats what I thought but want to double check... best place to purchase front and rear sprockets from...??
Had 520 chain with new standard rear sprocket and -1 on the front fitted to my 2013 Blade. Stuck a gps on the tank and then tweaked the speedo with speedo healer, after a few trial and errors got it bang on. I have to say the -1 on the front is noticeably quicker on pick up, front end still planted. Lets face it most top speeds quoted now, are not that achievable unless you have a runway. At Aragon was not maxing out with standard gearing although i tried bloody hard…….so its all a load of tosh this "how fast does it go"…well thats my take on it anyway
In need to replace my chain and sprocket over the winter and want to change from standard. Using mine more on track I'm only seeing speeds up to 150-160 so don't need top end. Unsure if it's best to change the front or rear. I only want to change it a little so I can see the difference rather than changing from and rear
