Well the annual trip to Europe was going well, down through France to Chamonix for the 'step into the void experience' at aiguille du midi, a couple of great days over on Lake Como then going up through Switzerland towards Meersburg on Lake Constance things didn't go too well.... All things considered I was very very lucky, walked (kinda like John Wayne) away with no broken bones but a shit load of bruises. Feck..it was all going so well too..!!
Sad to see Greg. Your okay which is always the main point. The bike? Well it will benifit from a little bit of tlc in good time. Seems Europe has been a bit of a crash fest this year, this is the third we/I know of to date.
Ouch ! Glad your OK mate, from looking at the bike you seem lucky to have been able to walk. Hope the bumps and bruises heal quick and i expect the bike looks worse than it actually is....hopefully.
Thanks for the best wishes guys; The bike, tlc, nah. Totalled with over £7k worth of damage, from what I recall it was bent forks (by the bottom yoke), buckled front wheel, bent brake disc, all fairings, clocks and most likely the frame too. Did ok on the insurance settlement though The cause: misread the road, up to a blind crest where I though the road continued straight as I could see road 100-200 metres beyond the cresst, when I got to the crest at about 30-40mph the friggin road actually went quite sharp right, at least 45deg turn with no real warnings like black white chevron boards like you normally see and there was a German Audi A6 in the way..if it hadn't been there just then I'd have run up the 'other' bit of road, taken a big sigh of 'holy shit that was close' turned round and carried on, as it turned out I nutted the car windscreen!
The other side of the coin is this is the new steed, SORRY guys it was a blinding deal and it was in the showroom...
Ahh shit you sussed me out..ha ha..if only i could have crashed it without the pain ! TBH in 2012 I'd been offered shit money pex against a blade and S1000rr, I'm talking £3.5k shit on an 09 HRC, the insurance payout was near to £6k, figure that one out, not that I'm complaining. I'd have been happy with a new blade but the dealer here is crap and I've no confidence in them after a couple of issues with my 09, the BM dealer is a little better but I do knoe the technicians who do the work on bikes and I'm confident in their ability. Lame..yes actually I was for about 4 weeks...sudden stops result is swollen bits you wouldn't wish on your worst enemy, not generally recommended.
Sorry to hear about the bike and obviously you suffered serious brain damage and thought it was a good idea to buy the bm! Glad your ok
