I was lucky enough to have one of the first tigers out of the spray shop. Bought a sp cowl and wanted it to match. Could I find colour or find the company that done the job. No no I couldn't, Honda UK/dealerships were useless to be honest and told me "someone" from a spray shop could help.... But after 2months of emails/phone calls a mate in trade chased them down.. So anyone owning a 2014 urban tiger, a company called SPRAYBAY in killingholme sorted the paint. I rang them, they sending me a touch up pen, and spraying my cowl for me.
Yea only 73 have been completed they doing 10a week..106 altogether I've asked the manager of spray bay to try and sort something with Honda racing to show its "limited edition"
Perth Honda showed one on there FB page that never had an Akrapovic on it. Don't know if it's an official one or just one they have had painted. I would have thought any decent body shop would be able to colour match it. I had race fairings for my old GSX-R 600 painted to match the tank (vigor blue?), and they were perfect.
Comes with akro on it as standard... And no it aint easy to match, its been to 5 sprayshops, 4different spectrometers and 2paint suppliers none of em can get close without knowing the weights n measures.... Also i dont want it to be close i want it perfect as the cowl is the most seen part and youd see the difference, well i deffo would.....But spraybay are sorting cowl for me and sending me a TouchUp pen
The guy who painted the fairings for me wasn't interested in a paint code or the name of the colour or anything, just asked for a sample of the colour I wanted them painted, so I dropped of the plastic cover/shroud that goes in front of the tank. He got the colour bang on. Said he had to spray it different colours to build it up though, starting off with painting them silver!.
Yeap that's how they do it, but no one wanted to try the pearl paint....luckily. Mate tracked the garage that done it
