Hi all..looking at an abs blade timoz.. It will become a TRACKBIKE over winter for next year :). It was a road bike . The abs has been disabled so shows the fault as its running on conventional lines.. Has anyone any experience removing the abs modulators ? Can't see it being to awkward but just sounding people out :)

    Cheers in advance ;)

As above mate, mine will be out over the winter months.

Easy route is to just fit standard lines and bypass the system.

We will be tearing out the full system and as always a thread on how to will be done.

Removing the ABS modulators/ecu/gubbins etc should be no problem at all.

The only myther U may have is getting the main ECU to 'forget' it ever had ABS as Honda ECU's aint the most 'Flashable' around.

Ignoring HISS problems you could always just source a non ABS ECU instead.

The abs is already disabled and not being used..its running braided hoses set up for none abs.Having inspected the bike today when I got home the gubbins have gone along with modulators.. Just that nasty nc under the seat init remains but that will be gone when I get a Hrc subrame.. There is an abs fault flashing on the dash but that will go when my fancy dash is on. Sorted a kit ecu ready just need loom now :)

    Ah ha

But the main ECU has no connection with the ABS ECU at all. It's an independent unit.
Check out the wiring diagram and you'll see for yourself ;)

This is true Col but which ECU triggers the fault light?

Discussion with my Stealer suggested that that the ABS ECU passed on fault signals to the main ECU which in turn then flagged up on the Dash?

Can't consult my OEM Service Manual as apparently I've 'given it to Andy now for Christmas' now as I'm informed I don't need it anymore!

Abs parts are pretty much worthless

We've checked it out mate and the fault code is actuated by the ABS ECU. So in other words remove the ABS ECU and you won't get a fault code.

A long time back I looked at this and I thought the ABS error was shown "through" the dash rather than "on" the dash, or in other words the error light is connected directly to the ABS ECU. I'll lazy out of looking at the diagram right now but I am sure you can rip it out with no problems. Will see how you go. Good luck.

It's exactly that Arthur. The error light is connected to the ABS ECU

    Haha yeah we.........;)

Sine, if the error was passed to the main ECU there would be no need for the secondary abs diagnostic bridging port as both engine and abs faults would be read via the red engine diagnostic plug.
The wiring diagrams show there is on wire that's not connected on non ECU bikes but connected to abs ECU this goes to the abs light inside the dash.

I must say you get used to the lights flashing on the dash ... Both abs and hiss flash continuously at mine.

I had all the abs gear removed by a mechanic. It was a bit time consuming if I look at the invoice but it's no rocket science. Only thing we could not remove was the abs loom. It saved me 5-7 kg of weight that I myself could keep instead of excercising :)
