    Hi,

I am trying to work out how many amps the stock setup generates. I understand the HRC stator generates 15 amps so interested what is produced on a standard blade.

Afaik it's around 45amps. Also if I am right the HRC gen is only enough to run the ignition system and dash.

So an electrex 25 amp setup should be better

Correct me if I am wrong but 15A at 15V is around 225watts. the output of a Blade varies between 372 & 417w depending on the year and model, so approx 24-28Amps, but then again it could all be bo**ocks

    Better as in? power? weight?

If they say 25 amps then I am confused, the older bike had a gen output of around 40-50 amps iirc so my guess is OEM 45amps..

Yes electrex say their kit outputs 25 amps so looking for something lighter but being able to run the lights of a road bike.

Thought so, tough call! I'd not change it tbh, but others may have a better idea, HRC gen switched lights, poss, last time I looked at HRC gen spec I was sure it said not for road use, as in, no lights..

Well I am working on the basis the the regulated voltage out of the alternator is 15V not 12V, so the maths is right for that case, all I know is that its enough to run the lights and keep all those ponies pumping out under electronic control

Glad I chose a HRC/Electrex setup in that case!

Holy crap. better add, I am not some kind of anal stats mupp, just happened to have me Haynes manual open when the thread popped up and it gives the alternator output in volts and watts.

That's me story and I am sticking to it
