Looking at getting a camera and would like your impressions of the gopro hero. Currys are doing them at about £100. Also can these be put on the mirror stem as I'm very wary of the sticky pads. If there is anything better around this price then shout up.
great camera......and you see lots of them on sticky pads at tracks......I always make up a "Daisy chain" of cable ties as a back up if mounted any where else via the pads
I think the £100 one must be the new budget one they have released. I have a Hero 3+ and it a great camera really good video, only thing i dislike is the wind noise. There may be someone on here who has brought one who can say if these still have the wind noise problem. you should be able to use a handlebar mount on most mirror stems, i had mine mounted this way on my Gixxer and can be picked up cheap enough of ebay. The sticky mounts do come off easily if you use a hairdryer on them and didn't mark my paintwork when i removed my two.
Not trying to be a downer but I don't get the current trend of wanting to film while on a bike. I've heard the argument about filming potential or actual accidents caused by others but it's only a matter of time before on board camera footage is going to be used by cops as evidence against riders. Tread carefully!!
I bought a one of the £100 gopro's for Jerez. No wi-fi so I brought my tablet with me and just keep swapping the memory card over. Quality is good on it as well. Jerez No Limits Nov 2014 - YouTube
Thanks Marco. Those sticky pads are fine to hold the camera on. But I bought a tether off eBay just incase. Just about make it out in this pic.
Sticky pads and tethers, they're the way forward http://1000rr.co.uk/general-1000rr-discussion/15182.htm
Been looking myself and these Go-Pro look-a-like cameras look good value for money and get good reviews. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uirzCD-qALE Cheapest I've found is just under £77 off e-bay with 2 x extra batteries and a charging cradle thrown in too. I have the SJ1000 which is the previous model to the one listed above on eBay. Cost me about 60 pounds on eBay from Hong Kong. Not a bad little camera, comes with many mounts and accessories too. The suction mount blew off the back of my bike at about 120mph. I'll give the SJ some credit as it still worked fine even after being thrown down the road. If Currys are selling GO Pros for 100 pounds that would be your better option. I've also been looking to upgrade my cam and the best I've seen is the Sony Action Camera. This had a image stabiliser so the video looks nice and smooth, unlike the rest of the cams on the market where the video image shakes the whole time.
Been using go pro since the first one I still use. the wife's getting me the 4 for Christmas and I do like them a lot. Normally used for TD's and euro blasts. never had a issue with them and would recommend a go pro to anyone. The best deal at the moment would be to buy one from Argos as if you spend over £100 you get a £10 voucher. AS the wife needs to get a few items from Argos she's getting me my 4 and then using the voucher on a few things she wants for the kids.
I got myself a GoPro Hero 3+ Black Edition off groupon.co.uk for a deal price £259 after someone posted link on here. Excellent footage and what's more it connects to your smart phone so easy to setup camera angles you want and watch footage afterwards instead of waiting until your home.
Footage for last time on bike before accident taken with Hero 3+ black edition but quality reduced to get it on You Tube. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=luTUEicBCrI
Tried the handle bar mount to the mirror and the flex and vibrating is terrible !! Wouldn't waste your time doing that.
