Just bought my 08 blade a few months back.

Sometimes the bike will start no problem. Then other times it won't start at all? It's completely random too. Is there a problem here? Battery or stater motor maybe?

is there a problem? err well yea,it wont start.....

    need a bit more info.

sounds like a bad connection if it's sporadic, but when it doesn't is it dead,no lights etc, does it prime, does it try to start?.more details.....

Yeah everything's still works, the lights all work the rev needle still moves on the rev counter ect.
It's does try to start, and it will bump start.

For example. I started the bike after 2 weeks sat in the garage no problem, ride 3 mile to my nearest filling station, filed the tank then it wouldn't start. Had to bump it.

Sorry for the lack of information in the first post

Sounds like it could be electrical, probably duff battery or not charging properly. Don't have an alarm on it do you?

No mate no alarm on it, I took the rear foot rests off last night, so the backend was apart, I had a good look at all the wiring ect when I had it all off, think I might get a new battery, I don't want to wear out the starter motor

I had similar on my old 08 and turned out I just needed to tweak up the battery terminals nice and tight. Other then that, as said it could be side stand, or perhaps dodgy kill switch?

I had exactly the same problem. At first i ensured a reasonable length of ride before stopping and keeping it on an optimate but effectively the issue was the battery was at the end of its life and since changing it has been perfect.
