Got braided lines, and 320mm disks on it already,
Just been given a l3 gsxr1000 m/c so that should hopefully improve it until I've got a few more pennies to get a brembo/accasato m/c and some calipers, either r1,blade (08+), zx10 (08+)

Got some time as weathers getting cold and pants :)

    Hi guys and gals,

First post on the site. Been lurking for a while and thought I could help out with some of the brake upgrades.

Julian - Yamaha R1/R6 brake calipers will fit gixer K4-K5 600/750 but will need a mod. See this link...

How to fit R1/R6 Monoblock Calipers : Suzuki GSX-R Motorcycle Forums: Gixxer.com

I have done this mod and it works a treat!

It just so happens I have two sets of these calipers kicking about. I have a 'gold spot' and a 'silver spot' set. Both have been stripped down and rebuilt and are in great condition. And they both have sets of part worn pads in them.

I also have a set of 08 Blade calipers. Again, stripped and rebuilt with part worn pads. If anyone is interested or needs pics or any other info, give me a shout.

I'll post them for £170. I've stripped them down, cleaned and rebuilt them with red rubber grease to preserve the seals and they are in great condition. I have a gold set too and can take some pictures if you'd prefer them.

that's not cheap, you can get Blade monoblocs for quite a bit less and will fit any 108mm spaced fork leg with the right spacers.

    just bought a blade m/c lever,calipers+standard lines for £150

Fair enough mate. I've worked with these calipers for a few years I know that the Yam ones are far better. So much so that Yamaha are using the same calipers on next years R1.

This pile of scrap is what's left of the pistons in my standard Tokios that came off my 2009 CB1000R (uses the same caliper as the blade) The corrosion speaks for itself.

I was gutted that they went like this. I was quoted £32 FOR EACH PISTON by Doble Honda. And that was with a bit of discount through one of the forums!

My old GSXR 750 K7 caliper pistons went the same way and I replaced them with the Yamaha calipers and the difference was night and day. I think the Yamaha ones were well worth the extra money.

    Just my opinion and experience.

nowt like trying to pusha sale is there....

think you'll find that most peoples experience of the blade brakes (especially as an upgrade to other bikes) is spot on.(hence me upgrading the brales off my zx10 to the blade calipers :) )

    just my opinion+experience ;)

My blade pistons also had some signs of corrosion like those pictured - but not quite so bad
