I had a Vauxhall vivaro from new in 03 and for the 4years and 100000 miles I had it, it spent least 16weeks in the garage in total gearbox, 2 engine mounts wiring faults was crap. Got a toyota hi ace this is my 2nd one no faults apart from a blocked fuel filter. Not the biggest, fastest or most comfortable but one I'd buy.

The early one's did have shyte gearbox's a Renault thought they get away with using the unit out of one of their Car range.

This was rectified in late 2004 with a dedicated box designed for a Van.

To be honest guys, like any car or van there are always problems with them.
It's just your luck of the draw if you get a good 1 or not.

Gearbox wise even if it does go they are such a common van that there are a lot available in salvage yards that can be thrown in if needs be. I'd even do it myself as I like a good tinker.

I'd love 1 mate but just out if my price range at the moment.

I know they are worth the extra £ too, as you always get your money back when selling.

New baby and moving house again next year have put an end to my erratic spending disorder ;)

Ye, there not the cheapest out there. I've got a couple of mates who use T4's in exactly the same way.

That wont be far off size wise. You'd need to measure the height to the top of the screen to see if it would fit.

Also you wouldn't be able to guide it in from the front. Though you could use a channel type ramp to guide and hold the bike in place.

Don't think it'll be quite long enough tbh.

I'm sure when I measured my bike for the van it was 2200+mm

Also as Col say's you've not enough room to actually load the bike by wheeling it in as there's no room for ya body whilst holding the bike.

I looked online for bike dimensions and got 2030x720x1118 so just in all round but no room for knuckles and certainly no room for my fat head pushing it in, however there is a door both sides of the campa and it does open up about a foot more on width when in there, thinking about it theres anchoring points in all four corners too, so reckon two men could get it in would just have to load BBQ tools and wheels in front, worth it if it works apart from all the obvious comfort food T beer she's fully loaded, got big ass solar panel ac/dc converter so nice quiet power, got to be worth a wrestle getting it in, and if it does work perhaps look at getting a cheap winch fixed onto roof of garage so to get it in and out solo !

To be fair Rob my length measurement includes a free standing wheel chock that I have screwed to the Van floor for easy one man loading.

Looking at your Van you could do with some sort of made to measure metal pallet with a central channel that the wheels could clamp to then slide the whole shebang in to the Van on a sliding rail mechanism, that way it would not need any 'handling' clearance around the Bike?

Thats food for thought, Alley tread plate with unistrut facing down underneath and unistrut facing up in camp to make the runners/channel, will have to watch how much it alters the height, about 30mm higher for 40x20 unistrut and tread plate unless i just fit a channel in the campa that the sides of the tread plate will follow, this would only add the thickness of the tread plate to the height, i would have to have the bike level apose to on side stand to fit, but when strapped down the bike would be lower with the suspension compressed.

Cheaper that half tidy transit/vivaro, would be a good investment for a few to chip in and share.

I had a 4 berth caravan and got a 3' x 4' door put in the back of it, double skinned the floor.an R1 and a RS 125 used to fit in no problem, when you got to the meetings stuck the awning on the side of it and perfect accommodation, cost me £3000 for the caravan and sold it for £3600 2 years later :)
