full bhp or euro import

    that's the reason I still have a thou for the road,i'm lazy,stick in 4th/5th and never need to change gear :)

    I'm all confused
    Micheal Dunlop ran at the tt a time of 17.12 on his thou but only managed 18.10 on his six, that's nearly a full min slower on his six. That kind of makes all your arguments about a six keeping up with a thou null and void doesn't it? Or do ye just arguing and talking crap?

    one key point to your argument..... non of us are Michael Dunlop. and last time I went out for a ride on the road, there were things like traffic and police about to get in your way.....

    The 600 was indeed slower we again are talking speeds of over 100 mph through towns. On normal roads 100 plus is where a thou is king unless the thou rider isn't as fast as the 6s rider through rider ability.

    I live on the edge of Dartmoor. It goes up and down like a whore's drawers and has more twists than a fart in tight pants. After a scamper across it, by half way, my mate on his 600 would be puffing like an old geezer and trying to shake off cramp in his clutch hand at our 'half way' coffee stop. Once he got his Blade, we'd reach the tea room and he's have a grin like a fox eating shit off a wire brush.

    Same elapsed time, half the rider input level.

    Excuses excuses,I gave ye an example which took every variable out of it bar 400cc and ye are still not happy.

    Take off 600cc from my blade and that is what a racer was using at Cadwell and handed my arse to me ;) It's not all about pure power, it's about usable power and the abillity and space to use it. If you aren't ripping the piss on the roads then 2 riders of the same ability would be pretty close on a 600 and 1000cc sportsbikes.

    Here's some stats for the 2 bikes, OK it is for 2011 and not 14/15 but I couldn't find those stats.
    2011 Honda CB1000R -- 0-60 mph 2.9 seconds -- Quarter mile 10.7 seconds
    2011 Honda CB600RR -- 0-60 mph 3.4 seconds -- Quarter mile 11.0 seconds

    Will the blade be faster? Yes.
    Would it be noticeable/significantly faster on the road? No

    I'm not like a dog with a bone I'm like a person with a valid point and I'm afraid I'm not willing to agree to disagree.
    Fact of the matter is as far as I'm concerned a liter bike is faster than a 600 full stop.
    I gave you examples of the same rider us on the same road gaining 1 min over 18 min lap- that equates to a rider on a thou in a bsb lapping a six twice over the length of a 45min race.
    Whoever said in an earlier post that a six has the same 0 to 150 time as a thou is really only kidding themselves because in fairness the thou is geared for 190.
    Gear both bikes the same and you'll have a different result.
    To the guy who initially assumed I was new to bikes- I'm afraid not, I've had bikes on and off for 20 years and I usually try a different bike every year.
    The fact that ye argue this issue with me just highlights the fact that ye haven't the dexterity to control a liter bike and ye are more comfortable on a six.

    Ok Paj, you seem to have an answer for all we've put before you. How do you explain the lap record at a track local to me called The Three Sisters at Bryn near Wigan? Record is not held by a thou or a six but by a 125! Racetrack, go as fast as you want! But you can't on a thou cos you can't get the power down! Smallish track I admit, but much more like our real world roads in reality.

    I have the perfect tool for twisties, KTM 690 smc-r. Not much fun over 90 mph or longer distances, then the blade comes out!

    I totally agree! And from a guy who owns both the SMT and a blade, I'll bet you're so much quicker in the twisties on the SMT! My money would be on the SMT every time!

    If you read the whole post you'd see that I used the example of a go kart being quicker than a gtr on a go kart track,it doesn't mean the kart is quicker it just means the gtr has been restricted.

    A 250 super kart is quicker around most circuits in Britain (regardless of length) than the bikes. They have about 4 times the amount of rubber on the ground and a very low c of g.

    The restrictions for road riding is more about survival instinct and social awareness. I gave up riding in groups because so many ride like knobs trying to impress others.

    Just my opinion.

    I'm not afraid to say I've been outrun on the road by a 600 before. No-one I know but the riders (2 that I can remember) were either just faster than me or new the road better or were prepared to take more risks.

    I've also had some difficulty keeping up with a 'busa mind you. Rider more important than bike!

    You can't go fast enough on most country roads to allow the thou to use it's advantage.
