Has anyone done this ? I have always fitted braided lines on all my bikes but this will be my first bike with abs Is it worth fitting braided lines to an abs bike ? If yes has anyone done it and was it a real pain to bleed due to all the extra hose and abs pump increasinv potential air locks.
Cheers for the reply. I tried the search function with no success. I mustn't be able to see wood for trees will have to try the search again
Yes we have done it, and yes it is a bit of a pain in the ass to bleed. What year of bike have you got mate?
Its not here yet just planning my mods in advance. Expect it next week. Its a 63 plate Zx10r but not completely gone to the dark side still got the SP2.
intend to fit/have fitted HEL's that I bought off Arthur a while back, my bikes due it's first fluid change, if you've got any hints or tips it'd be most appreciated Col (2012 abs model)
Best thing to do is ping SwissT a pm mate, as he has bled his ABS on more than a few occasions and has it down to a T.
I've done it http://1000rr.co.uk/mods-upgrades-accessories-products/13373.htm There was an improvement to the OEM setup but I also added an RCS, did a full bleed, fully serviced my calipers and had my suspension upgraded so couldn't say the lines was the main contributor. Worthwhile if your OEM lines are old/tatty but don't expect night/day improvement.
The zx10r abs system makes use of a conventional type brake system and bleeding on such is done as you would a bike without abs and as such braided lines would give feedback changes at the lever similar to a non abs bike would. Only Honda's dumbass attempt at abs with c-abs uses a brake by wire system which IMH caused more issues than it ever solved!!!
You could not pay me to have a abs,yes I know it is standard now but won't be changing my bikes from now,and if I was to get another it would be my first mod to convert to conventional lines like I did to 600 rr
