Hello everyone, this looks like a decent forum my names Dave I currently ride a 2013 gixxer 600 which I really love, only had it since last May but used it a lot last summer. I had 12 years away from bikes then the kids convinced me it was time I should have another go being the ripe old age of 40!. Anyway I started with a ducati 620 which lasted 3 months, then I got a gsr750 which I modded to death and was a nice bike but I always wanted the GIXXER. I just thought it a good idea to work my way back into sports bikes slowly! As soon as I had a years no claims I bought mine. Now there's nothing wrong with it but I saw a black and white RR yesterday that blew my mind! Checked insurance and there's no issue there. I am only a short arse with 30inch inside leg and the GSR was a bit big for me. Any fellow midgets on here that live with a newish Blade? I'm 5ft 6. Gixxer does fit me perfect. Also being still a relative novice still is a jump to a Blade a wise move? I am fairly sensible but we can all get excited
Look forward to hearing from you guys n gals.
I know I need to go and sit on one but won't get chance this week.

Welcome to the forum. I used to have a gsxr600 prior to moving up to the blade. Obviously the blade feels way more powerful than the six but is also easy to ride. Gear choice on the thou is less critical than on a six, so you won't be needing to bang it down two gears every time you want to make a quick overtake. The blade is still considered by most to be one of the best 1000cc roadbikes you can buy with fantastic midrange.

Thanks guys for the lovely welcome
Here's a pic of my current ride

Nice summers morning up the cat!
Managed to stop at a dealers today and sat on a 600cc 09 RR, feet were flat.
I rang about a 10'plate in Bradford but they wanted more than I expected ontop of my bike. My problem is I've worked up to a nearly new minter and I'm going to have to drop quite a few years I think given my budget. What are the benefits if any of the latest models? Is it worth saving a few grand for something £8-9k or just find a really clean 08/09?
I'm no road racer so don't really make use of the trickness of the bike I've got but it's nice to have the latest technology on board too. My bikes worth around £5500 in px so I could easily get onto a blade. I am very fussy over condition and spend hours polishing my pipe and cleaning my nuts!

Welcome - you'll soon be sat having a breakfast with us one Sunday at Millenium M/C no doubt

£5.5k don't sound a huge amount for yours, is that trade in price or private sale ?

I will be flogged for saying this, but I'd also think about a 750 version of the same bike you have now - you will find it a really good stop gap and trading with Suzuki at St.Helens you'll get a good deal and I think they have some 2014 stock to shift if you act fast.

But... its not a blade - the one I'd for is Beckers 2014 HRC with ABS at under £9k from the Honda dealer in Rochdale - you will see the advert link in the for sale section.

Go for either the 750 Gixer or Blade and you won't find much lacking , both ace 'old school' bikes
