Hi. Just putting new tyres and brake pads on my rr6 and wondering if I need new chain & sprockets? What do you guys think?
Still look as tho they have plenty of meat on not like toothpicks yet,but looks as tho a bit of tlc would,nt go adrift bud
Whats the chain slack like? Ifs its near the red indicator at the chain adjusters then i'd replace them mate
Those sprockets look OK, not much wear on them but looks like your drive gear could do with a good clean and lube. As said, check slack on rear sprocket and sidewards play.
Yeah need tlc Graeme ! Point taken! I ride all year round and it does need good clean up. The chain indicator does indicate replace chain but as it's aftermarket set I don't know if it was same length as standard. Sprockets aren't like shark fins so perhaps I should try to get a few more miles out of them. Thanks
Back sprocket looks fooked to me, but pull chain straight off at the back or 3 o'clock position. If more than 3mm clearance replace the lot with DID X ring Gold chain, Renthal front and hard anodised rear.
Went to the Classic Bike show at the Bath and West show ground on Sunday and treated myself to DID Gold x-ring chain and JT sprockets for £89.
