    Any tips for doing this?

Changed the rear hose, bled it the and pedal still feels pretty soft... certainly not like it was before I fucked with it! :D

American so a bit annoying at times, but it covers the bases.

Cheers for that... pretty much what I have done so will have another go tonight.

I don't remember seeing the white pad in the reservoir though... ;) oops...

Don't think the white pad will have that much of an effect on the stiffness of the pedal.

I use a syringe to bleed brakes. Its pretty easy, virtually no mess and works really well.

All you do is fill the syringe with brake fluid and attach to the caliper bleed screw with some clear tubing. Crack the bleed screw open and slowly pump the fluid back through the MC into the reservoir. Bingo job done!

It's more the fact I didn't even see the white pad ... lol

I actually reverse syringed the caliper... i.e. sucked the fluid through from res. to caliper.

My mate is bringing over a vac bleeder so will sort it properly tonight.

That's what I would have done, but then bleed conventinally, ie on /off, open nipple / close nipple.

Yep, got one of them myself.... mittyvac mv8550, should make the brake/clutch fluid change a lot quicker and simpler.
