Hi guys I've just bought and fitted a new scorpion rp1 can to my rr8 and am pleased with sound but the can is touching my swingarm with no load on it. I've followed instructions to the letter and all bolts and fasteners line up as they should but I'm concerned that I'll scratch the swingarm with the can. Any ideas? Thanks
I had a similiar issue with my Arrow can, I placed a couple of thin washers between the frame and right rearset. This spaced the rearset and the exhaust as the fixing strap is fixed through the bottom of the rearset.
I've got the scorpion can on a '12 and no issues. Could it be the angle the primary silencer sits at,can it be rotated slightly?
Thanks for the replies. If I rotate the primary silencer the mounting bolt won't line up will it? How big a gap do you have between can and swingarm when on side stand and did you torque bolts or hand tighten. Sorry for all questions!
Mine was fitted at the dealers when i bought the bike. I'll take some photos and post tomorrow,am sure theres about a 1cm gap as i slip a wash mitt over the exhaust to stop water going down it when i clean the bike.
The Akrapovic I have just fitted to mine came with a couple of 5mm spacers to fit between the RH rear set and the frame, which ensures the can is far enough away from and not touching the swingarm. Would recommend trying the same, or fiddling with the primary silencer / can positioning as has already been suggested.
Thanks guys and especially RRoss for the pics. Just needed to loosen bolts, rotate and tighten. Now she's sorted!
My Akra sits really close to the swingarm with no load (about 1-3mm). I'm ok with it like that, but put a strip of ventureguard on the swingarm at the possible contact point just to be sure. A year or so on and I can see no marks on the ventureguard or the can.
