It's weird, isn't it?! I have looked at it and looked at it and either I am being a complete numpty and have missed something obvious, or that's just that way it is! The Yoshimura R77 I had was a similar story. The only exhaust I've fitted which went on perfect (other than standard) was the RaceFit - that was so easy to fit and everything so precisely aligned that I thought it was too easy and I must have done something wrong, haha!
I think I may hay left link pipe last to tighten up, got end can in place and the messed with lining link pipe up. Was your can new? Cos I've got all the instruction if u want me to email you them over. I think the only problems I had was after fitting the Gilles, could you have the spacer thingy me bobs wrong way round. My clamp looks different to yours unless it's where you changed the bolt
Akra instructions here http://az79640.vo.msecnd.net/akrapovicbppmultimedia/ce4a3dd58b994f7e9e850253ebadeb9e.pdf Remember you need to space the right foot peg out as per instructions. When I fitted my Akra to my RR-C it lined up fine. Ian.
Brand new, and followed the Akra instructions that were included to the letter (before improvising myself). Thank you for the offer though. I can't really see how to improve the situation with mine as the can is always going to be at an angle compared to the rearset so that it sits flush with the swingarm (which it now does) - the only thing I can think is that the carbon band should have a twist in the top of it where it bolts to the rearset and somehow I've been supplied with the wrong one. Oh well, it's on now!
Just read through 19 pages of this thread.....Apologies for any and all daft questions. I'm looking for an exhaust that will pass track day noise test. Doesn't really need to give any more power (do many of us ride at 100% throttle?) but the weight saving over stock would be nice. So from what I have read the stock down pipes are fine so a full system is not really necessary. There has been the odd comment on exhaust valves but nothing really definitive. Do the slip-ons retain this and does removing it cause any issues? I have seen a few posts about dash warning lights. So what do people recommend that would fit the above criteria? Regards Simon
My Arrow GP2 for sale in the sales page. Not sure what the DB is on it tho. It's LOUD with out the baffle. Bike runs fine with it fitted. Just turn the servo motor to disconnect the flap cable then put the servo back where it was prior to adjusting it and all is well.
Been busy at work researching exhausts - the Austin Racing website site claims they can baffle down to 98DB. Anyone used and AR exhaust or provide any feedback on them? Cheers Simon
Spoke to Rich at Austin - top bloke - he can supply baffles for the GP1 that will range from 98 to 105DB which should get me through all track days including the dreaded Castle Doom!!!
Sorry if I've got the wrong end of stick - but are you saying that they supply a DB killer which will bring the noise down, or are you saying they will they pack the exhaust with enough baffling to bring the decibels down to a range that you request? If it's the latter I'd be interested as I love the AR gp1, but I always find sticking a DB killer in an exhaust creates a raspy sound that I don't like... but the gp1 is a tad too loud for my liking. So if AR will pack their exhausts to meet a customers specific DB preference then that would be great. I fear that I have got the wrong end of the stick...
They can do either. They can custom build the exhaust to meet certain DB limits and/or provide a suitable DB killer. They are providing me with two DB killers which I can use depending on the noise limits of the circuit.
That sounds awesome... please make sure you let us know how your build goes and whether it achieves the DB's that you have requested. Would be very interested in a quiter version of the standard GP1 for myself!
No - if I think it needs setting up (AR say I shouldn't) I'd get the ECU re-programmed with a bike specific custom map. CJS near Bath did my Panigale and transformed it.
Will do - if I get it put back together in time, not going well, I plan to get it tested at Castle Combe. If it passes that it will pass anywhere!!!
