Power Commander 3 throttle position help

So just put the baffle in the Leo Vince can on my RR8 Fireblade, and uploaded a suitable map for the setup.

Whilst checking the map had correctly gone over to the PC3, I noticed that whilst idling (idle hunting a bit between 1190 to 1250rpm) the PC3 software on my laptop was saying the throttle position was at 38%. Obviously idling I wasn't touching the throttle!

So now I go into the software > power cammander tools > set throttle position. I set the closed throttle value for what is being shown as the current value with bike idling, and sure enough the software reads 0%. I enter the value at full throttle for the 100% box and click ok, but get a warning that the range is smaller than recommended..... Am I doing something wrong?

Bike doesn't seem to run much different to before I made the adjustments.

 

Once you have clicked the option to reset the throttle position just blip the throttle from fully closed to fully open this will set the full open position for you, just blip the throttle from idle to full open stop quickly so you don't over Rev the engine.

You should see the full open figures change on the power commander software, it only takes a couple of seconds to complete.

 

are you sure your throttle cables are correctly adjusted? Flaps close and open fully? Also bike should be fully warmed up when setting throttle values.

 

ShinySideUp - yes, that's what I did, well with the addition of making the 'current' throttle value into the closed throttle value.

Charger - bike was fully warmed, yes. As far as I know the cables are adjusted ok, no running issues. As I said though, it was showing 38% on my screen whilst the bike was idling. Seems quite far out doesn't it?

 

Only thing you should do is hit 'reset throttle values' in idle and then blip to full throttle and thats it. Then shut off the bike and check (with power on) that throttle % shows 0 at closed and 100 at full throttle

 

Just did this exactly - I am now getting throttle showing 60% when closed.

 

Maybe i misunderstood, but did you manually change the 'current' value? if you did, hit reset again and just blip to 100% and don't do anything else.

 

First time I manually changed the 'closed' value, and automatically set the 100% open value with a quick blip. Second time, I just clicked reset, then gave a quick blip of 100% throttle.

First method gave 0% throttle reading when idling, but a really small range, triggering a warning from the PC3 software.
Second method I followed exactly what you just said, but with the bike idling, the PC3 software says it's at 60% throttle. Obviously I'm not touching the throttle at this point!

 

Anyone got any ideas how to tackle this. Something I haven't thought of?

Do I bite the bullet and change the TPS sensor? Running out of ideas and don't want to be without bike as weather getting nicer

 

Did you check if the TPS is become loose for some reason?

 

Think I'm gonna get the tank off again and check outputs from the TPS with a multimeter. I understand it should give around 1v at idle to around 4.5v fully open. We'll see...
