my OEM Headraces died at 15K then around 25K , got some tapered bearing fitted last time by PDQ and they are still going strong at 45k.
When I done my 600rr the ones in it had hardly any grease in them, bike wasn't that old only changed them cos I wanted taper roller ones
Well yes and no, the hardest part is using a thin bar around 6-8mm and some 250mm long, this is needed to knock the bearing races from the frame, there are only two recesses in the headstock that allow you to contact the bearing races, these are located in line with the bike. A small long screwdriver will also do the job. Fitting the new races is even easier if you leave them in the freezer for a couple of hours before fitment as they shrink a little and become a smoother fit. Use a length of M10 studding with some large washers or even a socket to squeeze the two races together in the headstock rather than drifting them in with some wood. Plenty of sssstuff on you tube regarding this bearing replacement should you need.
