Jumping on my blade and heading down to Donington for the day on Wednesday. I'm am booked in with Ron Haslems school and will be hitting the track on one of their cbr600rr s I've never done any form of track day before, any tips/advice.
I did this as my first track day last year. Its a great experience, not a lot of track time and I wasnt overly impressed with the tuition.. but that could have been down to the individual instructor I had. Overall it was a brilliant day and a great first time on track. No tips from me except that if the guy that you get paired up with is too slow, dont be shy in dumping him and he will get a second instructor. Its your cash your burning so dont wait around if the guy is slow.
Yep its great fun... thankfully I was paired with someone who races, so I was definitely the one playing catch up! But this made me push harder than I would have done and my riding definitely benefitted from the experience. Have fun! (and its not your bike so make sure you take advantage of that!)
Was a good day, only let down was the fireblade had right of way. We had to move out the way for them
Lol I did it on Wednesday there. Was pissing down with rain, but really enjoyed it. Was surprised just how quick you can go in the wet. P.s no blades over took me lol
I done it a few weeks ago on the 600's and loved every minute of it. I've never been on track before so was pretty nervous but my instructor was brilliant. He encouraged me and my mate to stick on his tail and he will go quicker and quicker. After the first session they tell you what you can improve on and luckily he said I just need to hang off the bike more. The blades wasn't too much of a problem as we caught up with 2 of them which I was buzzing about. Me and my mate ended up binning it in the last session but it never knocked my confidence. My instructor said we'd ran out of tyre. Still managed to get 95% overall score I was happy with that. The only problem I've found doing it is I now want a track bike!!
hi Dave me and Jase. are there this Wednesday 13th on the blades at 12 o'clock session. see you there, weather all looking good should be all good. Did 600s last year only time I have got my left knee slider down ,hoping for the same this time.
Well I survived the day. Really enjoyed it and managed to get some scuffs on my knee sliders. Desperate to do another track day now but don't think I would dare risk my blade in the track.
Dave do a track day on your own bike.. you'll love it! Ive done 2 on my own bike now and its the best...
